thoughts arrive like butterflies

Eddie had layed me down on the couch and fell back asleep with me. We were awakened by Dave, who seemed to be the first to get up that morning.

"Hey, guys. I made you coffee." He said, holding two mugs for us.

"Thank you, sweets," Eddie told him.
"Thank you Dave," I said, hugging him. I knew something had been wrong with him so I tried comforting him.

The morning light was beautiful. I looked outside and saw a clear sky and a burning sun.

For a moment I felt carefree, but the remembrance of the media drama began to make my stomach ache.

Dave was absolutely adorable. He had this thick blanket of hair and strange eyebrows. He was more on the soft spoken side and I loved the dude like a brother.

Eddie and I were still sitting on the couch, sipping our coffee, snuggled together.

So close, so close.

"How long have you been awake?" Eddie asked him.

"Not too long ago. It's almost 9, everyone sleeps in pretty late."

"Well why'd you have to wake us up?" Eddie laughed.

Dave's face sunk. He looked sad again.

"I was lonely."

Loneliness.

Thats what's been wrong this entire time. He's lonely.
Aww, I don't want him to feel lonely, ever.

So I said, "Dave, is that why you've been acting different? Are you lonely?"

Dave's eyes looked so pitifully sad, I wanted to cry.

"Yeah."

Eddie hugged him, like brothers should do. Eddie was so good at comforting people.

"Can you explain your loneliness for us?" I asked.

"I've never really felt what love is." He said, ashamed. "All I really want is what you guys have."

Eddie and I looked at each other, not knowing what to say to him.

"You'll find someone. I promise."

Dave smiled at Eddie, and hope glimmered in his eyes.

"Okay."

A tired Steno walked in and poured himself some coffee.

"Heyyyy Steno The Porno!"

Stone looked at Eddie irritably.
He was not a morning person.

"Fuck off, Vedder," he said.

"Damn," Eddie laughed.

Stone was seen as a boring person. He wasn't very talkative, but when he did he spoke with beautiful words. But fuck, in the mornings, the dude sounded like he had been hanging out with Duff Mckagan.

And then Mike woke up, in his boxers.

"Mike you're bulge is bigger than Stone's," Eddie teased.

"Stone doesn't have a bulge at all," Mike smirked.

"You guys are such shitheads," Stone said, laughing.

And then Donny and Jordan woke up, and finally Jeff. They all sat down to drink their coffee and eat their cereal, enjoying The Simpsons.

"We need to find a bass guitarist, Violet," Donny told me, while I was still snuggled up against Eddie.

"I know you've been enjoying fucking your boyfriend and all but-"

"Excuse me?!" I yelled at Donny.

Why does everyone think our relationship is based solely on lust?

Donny rolled his eyes and sighed.
"Violet, I'm sorry, I shouldn't of said that. I just need to know what the plan is. We can't just share Jeff anymore."

All eyes were on me.

"We can start auditions today, while we have time," I said quietly.

"Alright. Good plan. Crescent Sun," he announced, "get ready."

So I got up from the couch, giving Eddie a kiss before I left to get changed.

I grabbed my some long socks and an old pair of docs, and a ratty T-shirt. A lot of female musicians act like they have to live up to everyone's expectations, but I could give less fucks. Honestly.

And my hair, well, I put it into the shittiest pony tail you'd ever seen.
And when I finished Donny and Jordan were ready, too.

"Wait, how exactly are we going to do this?" I asked, sitting back down next to Eddie.

"We're going to walk around Phoenix and ask random people if they play bass," Donny said sarcastically.

"Oh fuck yourself," I laughed.

Donny explained that we'd get this on the Arizona news and hopefully it'd spread quickly, and we'd wait for people to feed into the arena we're playing in.

It was stupid but we were desperate.

I figured it'd be good to spend a bit by myself, and of course my brothers.
Eddie kissed me goodbye before both bands parted ways. Pearl Jam just wanted to enjoy Arizona, and I was happy the group could have dude time.

We made it onto the news pretty quickly because nothing ever happens in Arizona.

Around 2 o'clock people started to arrive and they auditioned one by one.

Our first auditioner was named Tom Strive.
He was dressed like a punk rocker, which was sick, but not our thing. He was good, too, but not our thing.

We had some girls walk in, too, but I rejected them all even if they were good. I don't need anyone trying to make a move on Eddie.

It wasn't until maybe twenty more people that we found our guy.

Heath Burton.

Heath was tall, with long messy blonde hair, and a determined look in his eyes.
He had a sense of humor, too.
But man, this kid could play.

His bass line was his own, which I was definitely impressed by.

"You're in the band," Donny smiled.

"Congrats, man," I smiled.
