I don't know why this chapter was soooo long to write and edit.

Perhaps everything will turn out fine. Maybe I will find a job soon and will be confident in who I am. But for now, Eiran still wants to be my friend, Hayes does not think I am a failure and Alessio told me I could stay in their house. I can relax for a bit.
Eiran and Alessio are not there, they have a meeting this afternoon. Eiran asked me if I wanted him to cancel but I refused. I told him I would probably read all afternoon. And I do exactly that.
I spend hours visualising a different world that the one I live in. The feeling of being so immersed in a book almost makes me cry again. It has been awhile since I have lost myself in a book. Books have always been a way to escape but when my feelings were too strong, it was impossible for me to do so.
It is only when the sun has almost set and that I can not read the sentences written on paper that I get out of the room.
Hayes peeked through the door when I was reading. I think he asked me how I was doing but I was in a completely different reality at that point.
"Hayes?" I call.
"In the living room." he replies.
He is sitting on one of the couches in the living room. Papers are scattered around the low table and he is reading them attentively. Well, he did before I arrived because as soon as he hears me, he gives me his full attention and smiles at me.
"Are you done reading?" he asks.
"For now." I reply, sitting next to him. There is still plenty of room between us two.
"You might love reading as much as Eiran."
"What are you reading?"
"Papers for work."
I don't know what any of them do for work.
"What are your jobs ?"
"We are consultants and do other things."
"Do you like it ?"
"Hum... I think I do, yes." he says after thinking about it.
"You don't seem too sure." I say with an unsure smile.
"I do like it but other things interest me way more."
"Like the universe and cooking ?"
"Yes, like the universe and cooking." he repeats with a smile.
"Considering how successful you seem to be and your lifestyle, I thought you had your own company."
"We did have a few but we are mostly doing consulting work right now."
"Why? Being a CEO would be a dream. You can organize your schedule the way you want. And you have absolute freedom."
"We still have freedom. We are good at what we do so we don't have to respond to anyone regarding what we are doing and when we are doing it. And being CEOs was way more time consuming."
It is true that they still have freedom. It seems like they can work wherever they want and whenever they want.
"Do you have less work?" I ask.
"Not really because we take care of different businesses. But if we wanted to make time, we could definitely step back from some of them." He quickly adds, looking my way.
