I awoke to the sun shining through the windows, Weston's windows. As I adjusted to the light and remembered I am in Texas, Weston's hometown and home, I reached my hand out, but felt nothing in the bed next to me. I turned over and realized Weston was out of bed already. When I sat up I could smell bacon, are his parents home already?
I went to his bathroom to clean up before walking out of his room and through the hallways of his big house, following that good smell.
"Good morning Kennedy, how did you sleep?" Weston's mom's voice caught me by surprise as I entered the kitchen. She was in comfy clothes drinking some coffee at the kitchen island. "I slept good thank you for letting me stay here again."
"Oh it is no problem Hun, I love when Weston brings home friends, how is my dear sweet Matt, Weston?" She looked over her shoulder and my gaze followed her as my eyes spotted Weston near the oven, cooking eggs and bacon. He turned his head back at us, looking good as ever, "He is good mom, definitely jealous that I brought Kennedy instead of him," He chuckled before looking over at me and mouthing, "Good morning" while smiling his cheeky smile.
I walked over to him looking down at what he was making, "Sorry for not waking up when they got here, I guess I was more tired then I thought," Weston then threw his arm over me, "Its okay I figured you needed the sleep, I am making pancakes, eggs, and bacon, it will be done soon." He smiled down at me and when he did the thoughts of last night washed through my head reminding me of how sore my legs actually felt.
Soon Weston was done and we brought out breakfast to their living room where his dad was sat on the recliner where he will be resting for a while.
This was such a weird environment to me, I noticed when we were sitting how open and real this family is with each other. His mom and dad actually seemed interested in what he did in college and liked hearing about what he loves. We were all laughing and having a good time talking about the last couple months with them and explain how I came to live with Weston and his friends. Usually at my house the only thing my parents talked to me about were my grades and my future, but here they actually had conversations together. I caught myself just watching and listening in on how they converse with each other, it made me smile.
After a couple more minutes of talking Weston pulled me to the side, "Hey do you want to take my truck and go shopping, get some boots and an outfit to wear tonight, my treat?" His soft hair was messy on his head as he spoke.
"Do you not want to come with?" I questioned. "I kinda want to spend some more time with them if I am being honest but I promise tonight I am all yours, is that okay?"
" That's is perfectly fine I understand, what time are we gonna head out tonight?" We were now walking around the hallways of his house, his hand grabbing a hold of mine.
"Probably head out at nine, the beach is about a 25-minute drive, if you don't crash my truck while your shopping," he chuckled as I pushed his chest back while his back hit wall behind us. He laughed with me, pulling my arms around his waist and bringing his head down, his lips meeting mine. The kiss was soft and genuine, but it still caused sparks in my stomach. I still can not believe this is my life right now—everything leading up to this point I would never have done in my old life back home. I would never do the things I have done with Weston or go drinking at a club with all the guys and Amelia. But I don't think it's the place, but the people. The people here make me feel safe and comfortable doing all this crazy shit with.
I have discovered new things about myself coming here. Without the pressures from everybody at home, I am learning new things about myself. I love this rebellious side of me now; from the clothes I wear, the things I've done, and the feelings I feel with these people are something I never knew existed.
