I looked at Connor, who was laying across the bed from me. Everything, from the way his lip pouted, to the way he held himself, was telling me that those words coming from his mouth were nothing but true. I hated that I couldn't win, that I couldn't hate him and begone with him, because I was already much too far deep in my case of Connor Franta admiration.
"I am stupid for saying this, but I do trust you, Connor." I wiped my eyes that had only then begun to water. "I having never not trusted you."
The trust only flooded back when I remembered Connor yelling and screaming at Caspar to get him to stop hurting me. He looked so pained to see me in such pain, and that was enough proof for me to realize; there was nothing else he could've done. He only spread the rumour so that Caspar would feel like shit, just like the rest of us. Drag the higher person to our levels and what has he got? Certainly not a reputation to support him, nor a fanbase of people who would do anything out of awe or fear. All he has is rude words and a big, strong body.
So, in sense, Connor's theory possibly could've worked out. Then, all we had to do was hope that Caspar's reputation meant more to him then killing me. It was a big risk, and I was glad to have Connor on my side.
Connor leapt across the bed, and quickly wrapped his arms around me. Into my neck, he said, "I am so sorry, you know that? I wouldn't trust me if I were you."
"I know," I replied, too tired to smirk. I yawned without even meaning to, which alerted Connor of my mental fatigue.
"You need to get some sleep." He got up to leave, giving me a light kiss on the forehead, saying softly, "Goodnight." I hummed in response, and let my head fall down on the pillow and my eyes fall shut.
"For god's sake, don't leave!" Sometimes you just need to add some sass to the cliche moments in life so that they seem less cliche so that you can seem more like you are enjoying the original moments in life, because no one needs to know that you are a sucker for the overplayed moments.
Connor laughed, turned off the room lights leaving only the bedside lamp on, and fell back onto the bed. He climbed over me so that I was the one closest to the edge and effortlessly wrapped his arms around me. "I have always loved bigger spoons," He said into my ear. And even though we had just fought and I had just got beaten up, I accepted the change of dynamic that Connor so often brought.
"So much for learning to keep deep situations deep," I teased, convicting him of the thing he always claimed I did not do often enough.
Connor snorted before reaching over my weak body and turning the light off. He fell back down on my bed, snuggled me tighter, and buried his face in the crease of my neck. With a soft sigh, his body relaxed and a sleepy 'goodnight' escaped from his mouth. His breathing soon relaxed and found a steady pace with mine.
I wish I could say that it was only comfortable and blissful to have him so close, and although it was all of those things, and more, it was also really new and foreign to me. I had never experienced something so intimate with someone outside of my family, and although it was nice, it was also keeping my mind hyperactive. I just wanted to sleep, but this new exciting adventure was taking place, and it was like my brain wanted to memorize every action, emotion, and thought that resonated through me.
"Hey Connor," I eventually said, too impatient for sleep. I needed to clear some things up before we could just move on and pretend we were closer than before and that everything is alright.
"It really hurts, what you did. I think you know that. I think you understand that it is not correct to say shit about someone, especially when it could affect someone close to you. I need to stop lecturing you like you are some kid. It isn't fair of me to act like you don't understand, because clearly you do. You understand well enough to know that the consequences are smaller than the consequences of turning a blind eye. And clearly I am not crediting you enough for that. It is hard being wrong, and I am a sore loser. But I really do appreciate the way you cared enough for me, just next time, please let me know before I get beaten up?"
