Jungkook was lost in thoughts when he suddenly heard the sound of the door opening. His heart skipped a beat as he quickly turned his head, only to see Taehyung stepping inside. Taehyung looked a little surprised to find Jungkook sitting on his bed.
"Oh, you're here. I thought you would be in your room," Taehyung said, his voice laced with mild surprise.
Jungkook gave him a small smile, trying to act normal. As Taehyung turned around to close the door behind him, Jungkook took the chance to quickly pull out the USB and hide it in his pocket before Taehyung could notice.
"I got bored, so I was just using your laptop," Jungkook said casually, hoping his voice sounded normal.
Taehyung loosened his tie with a sigh and nodded. "We should bring your things here from Jimin’s."
Jungkook nodded in agreement. "Yeah."
Taehyung exhaled and flopped onto the bed beside Jungkook, his eyes fluttering shut as exhaustion took over. Jungkook observed him for a moment, noticing the way his brows relaxed slightly, the stress from the day momentarily easing.
"Are you tired?" Jungkook asked softly. "You should rest."
Taehyung hummed in response but didn’t open his eyes.
Jungkook glanced at the laptop, shutting it down before sliding off the bed. Just as he was about to leave, he felt a warm grip wrap around his wrist.
"Where are you going?" Taehyung’s voice was quiet, but firm, his eyes now open and locked onto Jungkook’s.
Jungkook blinked, taken aback by the sudden question. "To my room," he answered, his voice almost hesitant.
Taehyung held his gaze for a few seconds, his expression unreadable. Then, in a blink, he tugged Jungkook back down onto the bed, making him sit beside him.
"Don’t leave," Taehyung murmured.
Jungkook bit his lip, feeling his heart race at the sudden proximity. He hummed in response, unsure of what to say. The room fell into a comfortable silence, the only sound being the faint ticking of the clock on the wall.
After a few moments, Jungkook fidgeted with his fingers, stealing glances at Taehyung. There was something on his mind—something he had been holding back.
"Taehyung…" he finally spoke, voice soft. "Can I ask you a question?"
Taehyung hummed again, eyes still closed.
Jungkook hesitated for a second before finally voicing the thought that had been lingering in his mind.
"Were we happy after marriage?"
Taehyung’s eyes slowly opened. He sat up, turning his gaze toward Jungkook, his expression softer than before.
"Happiness?" Taehyung repeated, his voice carrying a tinge of sadness. He let out a quiet sigh, his eyes distant as if recalling a painful memory. "Maybe, for a moment. Maybe, I convinced myself we were. But deep down, there was always something missing—something I ignored until it was too late. And I realized that I had hurt you… I messed everything up."
Jungkook’s throat tightened at the honesty in Taehyung’s words. Before he could respond, Taehyung gently cupped his cheek, his thumb brushing against his skin.
"But trust me, Bun, I will do anything to fix it," Taehyung continued, his voice laced with determination. "I don’t care how long it takes—I’ll make you happy again."
He paused, his hand falling back to his lap as his eyes dimmed slightly. "But if you can’t trust me now… thats ok cause I’ll still keep trying. And losing you again is not an option."
