The café buzzed with the morning rush—people chatting over steaming cups of coffee, the sound of cutlery clinking against plates, and the rich aroma of freshly baked pastries filling the air.
Jungkook sat across from Jimin, stirring his iced Americano mindlessly as Jimin scrolled through his phone, occasionally humming to himself. It was supposed to be a casual breakfast, a distraction from all the chaos, but Jungkook’s mind felt restless.
He glanced around, taking in the warm ambience of the café. His eyes roamed over the customers—some were deep in conversation, others working on laptops—until his gaze landed on someone who made his heart stop for a second.
A girl stood near the counter, waiting for her order. She had long, sleek black hair and an air of confidence around her. Something about her seemed… familiar.
Jungkook frowned, trying to piece together why. And then, as she turned around, it hit him.
Lisa.
His eyes widened, and before he could even process it, the girl’s face lit up.
“Kookie?! Oh my god!”
She waved excitedly before rushing toward him, her joy radiating in her bright smile. But in the blink of an eye, her expression changed. The happiness dimmed into something softer—something filled with worry.
Lisa’s voice dropped to a whisper. “I was so worried about you kookie....…how are you and what happened after i left? Do they get to know about the kidnappers?” She bit her lip, her eyes scanning his face for answers. “I missed you. Everyone cut me off. No one answered my calls and messages.”
Jimin stiffened beside Jungkook, guilt flashing across his face. He remembered Taehyung’s order—cutting ties with Jennie’s family completely. And Lisa… Lisa was Jennie’s younger sister. They had no choice.
Jungkook, on the other hand, didn’t know how to respond. He do remember Lisa. But what she was talking about? It was a complete blank.
Awkwardly, he forced a small smile. “I’m… I’m fine.”
She sighed in relief before suddenly pulling him into a hug. “I missed you so much, hyung.”
Jungkook tensed for a second before slowly patting her back. She pulled away and smiled, her eyes shining with emotion.
“Hi, Jimin-oppa,” she greeted with a small smile turning to him.
Jimin gave her a nod, smiling back. “Hey, Lisa.”
She was about to say something else when her name was called from across the café. Her friends waved at her, signaling her to hurry up. Lisa glanced back at Jungkook sadly.
“I have to go,” she said, “It’s my interview day. I’m going to work at my dream company!”
Jungkook smiled genuinely this time. “That’s great. Good luck.”
Lisa beamed. “Thank you! We need to catch up soon, okay?”
With that, she waved goodbye and left, disappearing into the bustling city outside.
Jimin let out a breath, leaning back in his chair. “Well, that was unexpected.”
Jungkook looked at him. “So..... I do remember her.”
Jimin raised an eyebrow. “Do you remember everything?”
Jungkook hesitated. “No. I remember Lisa. But… I don’t remember what she was talking about. And what kidnappers?”
