Sasha (age 9)
The summer has been a blast! Spending time with my favorite people is amazing. But even though as much as i want it to never end ~nothing gold can stay~ and just yesterday Susan and Jake left to go back to New Jersey. So im left here with my family and the "Banks" (Robin and Brandon's last name.) Im very sad that the "Woods"(Susan and Jakes last name) had to leave but there is always next year. Besides we still have a few days left with the Banks.
I stroll down the hill wanting to hang out with Robin. So i knock on the door. Erika welcomes me in very generously. She is always smiling and has such a happy personality. I look around and see that Robin and Brandon are no where in sight.... so obviously have to go upstaires. As i walk up the creaking stairs Robin just so happens to be coming down "oh hey Sasha" says Robin "what do you want to do?" " I dont have any ideas, do you have something in mind?" I ask. She replies after taking some time to think "how 'bout we watch a movie!" "Yea that sounds great" I reply enthusiastically.
We head down the stairs into one of the rooms in the open area. I had never been in the room before. Robin opened the door. Inside was a very small room with a bunk bed against the wall with barely enough room to squeeze past. In the very corner was a small tv. Like the ones in some malls for security when you walk through the doors. There was a dresser below it with a VCR player. Robin opened the dresser to reveal a selection of movies.
"How about this one" she says holding up a colourful case. I read it out loud "Pocahontas 2, sure I havent seen that before" as far as i was concerned i didnt even know that Pocahontas 2 even existed. But we put the VCR into the player and turned on the screen. Is fuzzed quickly but then started. Music blared through the speakers so loud I covered my ears. "Ooops, my bad" Robin yelled as she turned down the volume.
"TURN DOWN THE VOLUME IM TRYING TO SLEEP HERE!!" I heard someone yell. Assuming it was Brandon i started laughing, but i checked the clock 11:00 am? "Why is he still sleeping?" I ask Robin. "He was up all night playing video games" but we took our places on the bed she took the top bunk and i took the bottom one.About 5 minutes into the movie Robin asked "hey do you want a snack?" I replied "sure" and she jumped off the bed and ran to the kitchen. I decided to pause the movie while she was gone. During her absence I twiddled my thumbs. As I heard the door creak open I expected it to be Robin so I just sat. "So what are you doing" said a deep voice. I instantly knew it was Brandon so i turned around and pointed at the TV. He looked up at the screen and laughed. "Oh wow this is a great movie, I used to watch it when I was younger." Then he came forward towards the bunk to sit down, so I moved my legs up while he sat down then placed them on his lap. He was totally fine with it. Robin came in with 2 bowls of cereal without milk and handed one to me. I sat up and removed my legs from Brandons lap as I looked at the substance. It was square and seemed to have sugar all over them with swirls of brown on it. But whatever it was it looked delicious! At my house the only cereal we were allowed was Cheerios or Rice Crispies. So i poped a square in my mouth. And it was delicious! "What is this cereal called?" I asked " oh this stuff is Cinnamon Toast Crunch" she replied "You've never tried it before?!" Brandon asked is disbelief. I just shook my head. He smiled and laughed.
We all enjoyed the movie together as we ate our snacks. All of a sudden Pocahontas' dog fell on its face into the snow and fell down a hill. And that quick animation was the start of a huge hysterical fit of laughter coming from the 3 of us. Brandon stood up and rewinded it and kept replaying it over and over and over and over again until out guts started hurting from laughing soooooo much. And then he kept on doing it until it wasnt funny anymore. We spent a good 10 minutes laughing at a 5 second clip on repeat. We finally stopped pressing the rewind button and watched the movie. It was good but not as good at that one scene. Obviously Brandon and I cracked jokes the entire time and laughed at funny parts until we couldnt take it anymore and our guts hurt from laughing. After the movie we all played video games and then went outside to play sports. It was a great way to start ending the summer.
