Sasha (age 11)

Sixth grade passed by surprisingly uneventfully. Lots of tests, lots of homework and even EQAO. Rocky never asked me to grad and Richard still ended up moving schools. The first few weeks Rocky and I were visibly sad, but Rocky moved on and found a new best friend and I got really close with my new best friend Diane. I bought my dress for grad in Florida when I visited with my family. It's navy blue with lace trim and goes down to my knees. I love it so much! I matched them with navy blue cork wedges.

The day of grad I curled my hair and put on some lip gloss and went to school. I was one of the first people to show up. I waked to the front of the school and there was Rocky. He looked it me up and down and I could tell he was impressed. I don't dress up for just any occasion. He even came over and said "wow, you look nice". I was so happy until I started walking to the door, and there were the other girls from other classes in my grade. They were wearing neon tube dresses with 6-inch heels. I noticed Rocky's eyes almost bulge out of his skull, and I felt defeated. I walked inside very disappointed, and feeling lack-luster but tried to make the best of the ceremony.

The actual ceremony was like 3 hours long and way to hot. So hot all my curls came out. Then after, everyone in my grade went to an underground club that the school had rented out. We danced, and sang and ate food for what seemed like hours. We took tons of pictures and a lot of people complemented my dress. Everything was going great and I was hoping for a slow dance to come on so that I might ask Rocky to join me. But nothing. All of a sudden some random girl bumped into me and spilled her sprite all the way down my dress. It got all over my chest and all she did was say "oops" in a sarcastic tone and went to go dance some more. I was devastated.

Luckily Miranda and Diane were there to save they day. They whisked me into the bathroom and helped me clean up.

"She was a jerk for doing that" Miranda said as she wiped off my neck and cleaned my necklace

"Yea, really rude. Maybe she's just jealous" Diane piped in.

We finished cleaning up and just as I was about to step out again Miranda gave me a weird look and pulled me behind the coat hangers.

"What... whats wrong?? Are you okay?" I asked her, quite confused.

"Look!" she said as she pointed down to the length of toilet paper attached to my shoe. She stepped on it to remove it from my shoe

I gave her the most relieved look "You're a lifesaver!!!"

With that we ran out to the dance floor and partied like there was no tomorrow. In the end there was only one slow dancing song. But only one couple ended up dancing and everyone including the DJ made fun of them. I really dodged a bullet not asking Rocky.
