The air was different today.
A little heavier.
A little more dangerous.
After the morning chaos of school prep and sleepy kids dragging their feet to the cars, the moms had switched gears, The moment the kids were dropped off.
At the base, deep beneath the surface, in a secured underground level of their private base, a man sat in a dimly lit interrogation room. Wrists chained to the table. A swollen jaw. A split lip. Sweat rolling down his temple.
And fear in his eyes.
He knew who was coming.
The girls car stopped at the center of their base, they got off and made their way into the building...
"I really thought Alex was gonna die here." Chaeyoung said as they made their way into the elevator "Same, I'm actually surprised he's ready to talk." Jieun added as she pressed the lowest button on the elevator...
"He's tough but who's so tough that blackpink can't break!" Lisa hyped "First of all, never and I mean never make that expression again, especially in the presence of your husband..." Jennie said eyeing Lisa "...Also I know this is a good thing but I just can't help feeling like this is some kind of trap... I know he can't plan anything from his cell...But it...You get me right?" She looked up at her sisters who shook their heads at the same time.
"Whatever." She looked at the ground as the elevator slowly descended
The elevator doors opened with a mechanical hiss, revealing Jieun, Jennie, Lisa, and Chaeyoung. Jisoo was sent home mid-way to the base—her doctor had ordered strict rest until her due date. But the remaining four were more than enough to terrify the strongest of men.
They walked side by side—heels echoing sharply against the pristine floors, long coats swaying with each purposeful step, eyes emotionless.
Guards stepped aside the moment they appeared. No one dared speak.
Inside the control room, a young female tech nodded respectfully. "The prisoner's stable. And he's finally agreed to talk."
Lisa cocked an eyebrow. "On his own?"
"No, ma'am," the tech admitted. "After twelve hours of staring at the blank walls, hearing whispers through the vents, and maybe... a little hallucinogenic serum, courtesy of Ryoko, he's had a change of heart."
Jennie rolled her eyes. "Men are so fragile."
"Let's get this over with," Jieun muttered, adjusting her gloves.
The girls walked in one after the other, the door slamming behind them.
The man flinched. He looked like he hadn't slept in days, and his eyes widened in unmistakable panic when he saw Chaeyoung step in last.
He had heard stories. Everyone had.
"You asked to speak," Lisa began, leaning against the wall, arms crossed. "We're listening."
The man swallowed hard. "I—It wasn't supposed to go down like that."
Jennie tilted her head. "What wasn't?"
"The bombing," he whispered. "The warehouse raid. That wasn't ordered by Volkova... it was me. I... I thought if I did something big, he'd see I was loyal."
The room went still.
Jieun stepped closer. "You're telling us you took an unauthorized hit on our territory... hoping for praise?"
The man nodded, shaking slightly. "He didn't even care. He said it was sloppy... He left me for dead."
Chaeyoung, calm and poised, finally spoke. "So you killed innocent people, destroyed property, and set off a war... for attention?"
His lips trembled. "I didn't know anyone would die—"
Jennie slammed her hand on the table, making him jump. "Don't insult our intelligence."
Lisa walked around him like a lioness sizing up a wounded deer. "You did it for validation. And now, you want redemption."
The man's head dropped. "Yes. Please. I'll tell you everything. About his movements, his alliances, the woman who handles his off-books cash—her name's Irina... She lives in a secured penthouse in Prague. I have the access codes."
The sisters exchanged looks.
Jieun gave a sharp nod. "We'll verify. If it checks out—you live. If not..." she smiled slightly. "Well, you already know how we work."
"Thank you," he breathed.
But no one answered. They turned and walked out.
Outside the room, Lisa spoke first. "Do you believe him? Cos if he had the guts to attack our territory for praise, I'm not sure if he'll easily be able to betray his boss, giving us such sensitive information."
"Right," Chaeyoung muttered. "But we'll need to raid that penthouse and confirm. If Irina is really the key, we hit two birds with one stone."
Jennie nodded. "Let's prep for an overseas op. The sooner we move, the faster we end this."
Jieun, still deep in thought, added, "Let's bring in the guys for recon. But we lead this one."
Chaeyoung nodded to a guard who bowed and walked to the control room to deliver the message...
"You sure we should have the guys go? They looked awfully tired from last night." Lisa said eyeing the cells filled with prisoners...
"They'll bounce back...it's not like we don't take care of them." Jieun said and walked off... "And you know you're not accompanying us, right?" Jieun suddenly turned eyes looking straight at Chaeyoung.
"I know..." Chaeyoung huffed, she wasn't even supposed to be at this part of the base because of the pungent smell. If any of the guys find out she's going to be in a lot of trouble.
