I rest my palm under my chin, watching my boyfriend—secret boyfriend to be precise, nervously tap his leg under the table.

"Are you really that nervous?" Amir turns to face me, hearing my voice.

We're perched on a fancy rooftop restaurant, the city lights twinkling like scattered jewels beneath us.

We're here to have dinner with my best friend and my brother, who haven't arrived yet. The main goal of this dinner is to finally reveal our relationship to them.

Amir and I have been dating for a few months now, but we kept it a secret from Mirha and bhai because, let's be honest, they've had enough drama going on in their lives to fill a soap opera!

I didn't even know how serious things were at first, and Amir had kept it from me too.

I feel a wave of happiness wash over me as I think about Mirha finally finding her sister, whom she had searched for years.

I've watched her long for her sister, seen her tears, and cried alongside her. Now, knowing they are reunited fills me with joy.

My heart aches for that little girl, Lena, who has endured so much. She now lives with Mirha's parents and is slowly healing with the help of therapy. Mirha shared that her parents insisted on taking care of Lena, and it warms my heart to see them finally happy.

I'm just so relieved that my best friend and brother are finding their happiness after all they've been through. They truly deserve all the joy in the world.

"Not at all." Amir's voice breaks through my thoughts.

He forces a smile, but it's the kind of smile that screams, 'Help me!'

I smile back at him, placing my hand on his warm one. "Don't worry! I'm right here with you." He gazes at my hand, adorned with my favorite pink glittery manicure nails, resting gently on top of his for a few moments before finally meeting my eyes.

His expression softens, and a genuine smile spreads across his face as he opens his palm, intertwining our fingers together.

"And besides, my brother is a total sweetheart! You really don't need to be scared of him."

"I'm not scared of him," Amir clears his throat, and I can't help but laugh.

"Oh, come on! You clearly are." I continue to tease him, watching as my shy, adorable boyfriend shakes his head at my playful antics.

Amir is everything I've ever wished for—like, if they had a contest for the perfect man, he'd win hands down.

He's really, really handsome, sweet, soft-spoken, calm, and respectful—a total green flag in every sense.
