HER HEAD ACHED, HER LIMBS FELT HEAVY, and as her gaze landed on the dark wooden dresser and the leather armchair tucked in the corner, she realized exactly where she is.
Damon's room.
She closed her eyes and exhaled through her nose, the weight of regret settling in like a second skin. She had sworn to herself she wouldn't talk to him again. Not after everything.
But vodka had made a convincing argument, and now she was here—uncertain, raw, and wrapped in awkward silence.
The space beside her was empty.
Blair sat up slowly, fingers brushing through her tied up hair as she searched for her shoes, her dignity, anything to escape before he walked in—
Too late.
The door creaked open, and Damon stepped inside, a glass of water in one hand, and an expression she couldn't quite read. His eyes met hers, and for a split second, neither of them said anything.
Then, cool and casual, he spoke, "You're awake."
Blair nodded, brushing a hand over her tangled hair. "Yeah." she muttered, voice hoarse.
Damon stepped further into the room and handed her the glass. "Drink this."
She took the glass with a muttered "Thanks." The silence that followed was thick. Not angry. Not bitter. Just wrong.
"How are you feeling?" he asked, after a moment.
She looked at him, then away. "I've been better." she said dryly, setting the glass down. "I don't remember everything. But I remember enough."
He nodded once, the corner of his mouth twitching in what could've been a smile if it weren't so hollow. "That sounds about right."
Another pause. Neither one of them looked at the other too long.
Blair stood, smoothing the wrinkles from her dress. "I should go."
"Wait." Damon said quietly.
She blinked, turning toward him again. "What?"
He shifted his weight and finally looked her in the eye,. "Elena's gone. She left with Alaric to look for Stefan."
Blair's stomach dropped. "What? When?"
"This morning. Alaric told me without Elena knowing. She said she didn't want to wait around anymore."
Blair's eyes widened. "Damon, what if Klaus finds her first? You know what he's capable of."
"I know." he said, jaw tight. "That's why I'm going after her."
