BLAIR RECLINED IN HER SEAT AT MYSTIC GRILL, her legs crossed, elbow propped lazily against the edge of the bar. A half-finished margarita glistened in her hand.
"Would you like another one? It's on me."
Blair didn't need to turn around to know who it was. That voice had been lingering in her head too often lately, whether she wanted it there or not.
She arched an eyebrow without looking at him. "Feeling generous today, Salvatore?"
Damon slid into the seat next to her like he owned it.
"Ouch." he said, placing a dramatic hand over his heart. "When am I not?"
Blair finally looked at him, unimpressed, her fingers tightening around the glass.
"Why not go charm anyone else instead? There's plenty of girls here."
"Oh, gladly. But you're more fun."
Blair gave a dry laugh, sipping her drink. "Lucky me."
"So..." Damon began, "Last night was a full moon."
Blair leaned back, feigning boredom. "Wow. You can read a calendar. Impressive."
"Don't play dumb." His voice dropped an octave, tone edged with something dangerous but amused. "I know you're a werewolf. And I know Mason is too."
Blair tilted her head, dark eyes narrowing with cool amusement. "And if I told you I wasn't?"
Damon barely had time to register the shift before pain exploded behind his eyes. His veins rising against his skin like something inside was clawing to get out. Blood vessels burst just beneath the surface.
He winced—but he grinned through it.
"You're a witch." He exhaled with a dark chuckle, rubbing the side of his face as the pain eased. "Cute party trick. Got any more?"
Blair shrugged, lips curving into a mysterious smirk. "I'm a little more complicated than that."
His eyes narrowed with curiosity, leaning closer. "Do tell. I'm all ears."
She leaned forward, her voice just above a whisper. "Let's just say I got the bite and the magic. Werewitch, if you're into labels."
"That's cute. I've never met a werewitch before." He watched her as she started slipping things back into her purse. Phone, keys, lip balm. A signal she was done with the conversation.
