Well, it seemed like I wasn't the only one not thrilled about this particular thing. Judging by the grumpy faces around me, it looked like just about EVERY STUDENT HATED IT.
Exams.
I wasn't too stressed about exams, since I knew I'd do okay anyway. They gave us quills with anti-cheating spells for the writing exam.
But seriously, those quills were so uncomfortable to write with. It was annoying.
On top of that, exams weren't fun at all. I was worried about my English grammar, even though I knew I'd be okay... probably.
The best exams were definitely the practical ones. Professor Flitwick had us make pineapples tap-dance across a desk. Easy peasy.
Professor McGonagall asked us to transform a mouse into a snuffbox. Piece of cake.
Snape tested us on the Forgetful Potion, but luckily, Morgen and Orpheus gave me their notes ahead of time and I memorized everything. No sweat.
The history exam, though? Total pain. Remembering dates, wars, and goblin rebellions? Yawn. And those long names?
No thanks.
But honestly? I was more worried about what Harry, Hermione, and Ron were planning to do after the exams. Perhaps something foolish.
Now that we were done, all that was left was to wait for the results. We headed outside with everyone else.
"That was far easier than I thought it would be. I needn't have learned about the 1637 werewolf code conduct or the uprising of Elfric the Eager." said Hermione as we joined the crowds flocking out onto the sunny grounds.
I nodded, trying to hide my agreement. Sure, the exams weren't that bad-but I didn't want to sound like I was bragging.
"Yeah, it was a breeze," I said nonchalantly. "I wonder when we'll get the results."
As we walked, I felt a wave of relief wash over me.
Ahh... I missed the sun. It was always cloudy here.
Ron, who was walking beside me, rolled his eyes. "You two are always so calm about exams," he said, exasperated. "Some of us actually have to study, you know."
I chuckled, ruffling his hair playfully. "Come on, Ron, you'll do fine. You always do."
He grumbled, but couldn't help the small smile that crept onto his face. "Yeah, yeah, laugh it up," he muttered, pretending to be annoyed. "But I swear, if I fail anything, it's your fault for being so calm and confident."
We kept bantering as we wandered down toward the lake.
When we arrived near the Great Lake, we noticed the Weasley twins and Lee Jordan tickling the tentacles of a giant squid, which was soaking up some sun in the shallow water.
I watched them for a moment, a small smile tugging at the corners of my lips.
Then a random thought crossed my mind, and my gaze lingered curiously at the squid a bit longer.
"Wonder what it tastes like," I muttered under my breath, almost forgetting I wasn't alone.
Ron, who was standing beside me, raised an eyebrow at my comment. "What was that?" he asked, confused.
I shook my head, realizing I said it out loud. "Nothing, nothing," I replied, trying to brush it off before anyone could ask more questions.
Hermione had overheard. She gave me a skeptic look. "You didn't just say what I think you said, did you?"
