Ch.6 Damsel in Distress

Lunch passes by slow ..really slow. I wish Emma didn't have to take a test she missed last week, then I would have someone to talk to in this line. I start thinking about Adien..and the poem..I wonder what could make him write something like that? Was it an old lover?

Someone as beautiful as him..someone he had an amazing life with..that was happy with..he obvioisly was inlove with her. My heart grows sad thinking of Adien with someone else. Suddenly I feel a tear coming down my face, I quickly wipe it away and try to replace the straight face I had. I feel someone touch my shoulder so I turn around.

" I have come to save the day again I see " Liam smiles and notices my eyes are red. " What's wrong Ash...if I hurt your feelings that bad I really didn't mean to..you know I was joking right." He gives a small smile." I would never hurt you..you know that right?"

" It's okay Liam..I know you was joking..I just...I just have a lot on my mind right now..and I haven't been sleeping well." I shrug acting like it's no big deal. I go to turn back but he grabs my arm.

He looks into my eyes for a moment before asking, " Why haven't you been sleeping well Ash?"

I stare at him for a moment wondering if I should tell him the reason. I probably shouldn't...he would think I was weird or something not being able to remember any dreams not even a nightmare and then waking up exhausted.

" Oh you know I have been dreaming of you constantly and all" I laugh " keeps a girl up at night."

" Really". He says with a smug expression. " I always knew it would happen."

" What?" I look at him shyly trying to hold back my laughter.

" That you would fall inlove with me of course." He smiles picking up on my joke.

"Oh yes! Liam you are every girls fantasy." I laugh out loud.

Suddenly I hear Emma..yep she is walking ahead of people to get to me.

Move it asshole! You are blocking me from my woman!" Emma shoves Liam out of the way and smiles.

" Nice to see you again to Emma.." Liam grunts. "I see you haven't changed much." he acts hurt and rubs his arm.

" Oh you will be fine you big baby." Emma says in a baby tone and pulls me up to the front of the line waving back to Liam as we get a tray and go outside.

" Now now Ash one guy at a time" she gives me a playful push "How am I suppose to be a good match maker if your hanging around Liam Walley?" She gives me the "are you crazy look".

" I haven't been hanging around Liam..." I try to defend myself. " He caught me in the hallway..he just moved back." I shrug.

" What do you mean he caught you like did he actually catch you?" she is trying to hold back her laughter and then she sees my face and almost falls . " Omg! You have to tell me! Spill it now!"

"These stupid shoes" I point at my flip flops " Almost made me smash my head on the Art door ..and then Liam caught me before I could..and he made fun of me being a cripple..he said I had two left feet..and then I got mad and he left." I say in a rush.

" So is that it?" she says laughing. " What about in the lunch line?"

I smile thinking about what I said. " I told him he was the reason I am so tired...from dreaming of him." I laugh out loud. Emma joins in and then the bell rings.

The rest of the day is a blur. I just try to keep "my two left feet " from tripping me up again and also try to dodge Liam in the hall everytime I see him. Which isn't to hard seeing he is 6"2 and I am 5'2 and a half, yes I have to add the half I worked very hard on getting past the 5'2.

So when the bell finally rings to go home I rush to Emma's car. Surprisingly, I get there before she does but unfortunately that means I have to wait for her...well this is exciting. I look at the willow tree in the middle of the hills as I sit against her car , something about it is at the back of my mind...what could it be...something about remembering but remembering what?!?!

Emma presses her car alarm and almost gives me a damn heart attack.

" Ha ha! Oh wow Ash! YOU should have seen your face!...it was priceless!" she laughs and opens her door. " You jumped like ten feet!" she giggles.

" Yeah I am sure it was priceless..YOU almost gave me a freaking heart attack for crying out loud." I cross my arms. I look out the window, now I have punched her four times in my head and put her in a straight jacket. I picture me dangling her keys in front of her and her yelling at me. I cough to hold back my giggling.

She turns on the radio." Well what's it gonna be today ashy poo?" She turns the radio station until she finds a song. Its country. " Hell yes! I dedicate this one to Liam " she laughs and starts singing. I look at the screen. Bait a hook? hmm okay...

" You'll be running back he can't even bait a hook...he don't know who Jack Daniels is..." I am lost in her singing and us laughing when the car stops.

" Well Ms. Scott...or Walley." she winks " You're home!"

" That's not funny Emma and you know it." I scowl.

" What the Scott or the Walley?" she asks innocently.

" Me and Liam are only friends and that was a while ago at that ." I say.

" Oh so there is a chance for Adien huh?" she smiles knowing that she has me there. Damn it!

" Well if I had to choose..." I smile knowing not telling her will aggravate her more.

I get out and close my door, smiling and waving as I walk to the door. Emma rolls down her window before I can get inside.

" YOU HAVE TO RIDE WITH ME TO SCHOOL TOMORROW YOU KNOW!!" she yells and smiles at me wickedly then she rolls up her window and leaves.

What have I gotten myself into?
