At station....
As usual Haseena had just dropped Karishma at her office, and now, back at her own desk.
She sat down with a soft thud and straightened her files, but the calm smile on her lips refused to disappear. She wasn't trying to smile. It was simply there. She was actually trying to hide to make her facial expressions normal but smile was not leaving her face.
There had always been a difference. Between existing and living. Between smiling and feeling joy deep in her soul. Between having everything and having the one thing your heart desires.
And that one was Karishma.
Just her presence in Haseena's life had changed everything.
Haseena was still lost in that thought smiling, leaning her elbow slightly on the table, fingers tracing the edge of a file when Pushpa ji's voice gently broke through her thoughts.
"Madam sir?"
Haseena blinked and looked up toward the door. Pushpa ji was standing with Manvi just behind her.
"Ji....?" Haseena said, sitting up straighter.
"Aap ne case ki file mangi thi," Pushpa ji said, walking over.
"Ji. Aayiye."
Pushpa ji placed the file on her desk, and Haseena took it, flipping through it, scanning the pages.
"Madam sir, jaise aap ne kaha tha... uska pati kuch din ghar nahi gaya tha toh dobara uski biwi aur maa aaye the station report darj karwane... aur phir......"
"Phir, Madam Sir," Manvi interrupted. "Pushpa ji ne unke dil mein jazbaat jaga diye! Ehsaas karwa diya ke woh log ek doosre se kitna pyaar karte hain!"
Pushpa ji glanced at Manvi as her tone was sarcastic. Manvi quickly corrected herself, "Matlab... situation ko samjha diya aisa keh rahi ti main..."
Haseena looked up from the file and gave a small, amused smile at Manvi's sarcastic interpretation.
"Toh ab aap kya kahengi?" Haseena asked lightly.
"Madam sir, sirf ek case ke parinaam se hum... humari sochne aur tareeka nahi badal sakte. Case, case hota hai. Aur yeh case kahin se bhi nahi tha. Hum police hain... humara kaam kisi ke dil mein jazbaat jagana nahi hota."
Pushpa ji opened her mouth to respond, but Haseena gently raised her hand, stopping her.
"Fair enough," Haseena said calmly. "Ek case se hum conclude nahi kar sakte. Let's see agay....Ab aap jaa sakti hain."
Manvi tapped her foot. "Jai Hind, Madam Sir."
She turned and left.
Pushpa ji remained, looking slightly dissatisfied. "Madam sir, aap ne samjhaya kyun nahi?"
Haseena leaned back, letting out a slow breath. "Pushpa ji... woh abhi nayi nayi hai is field mein. Hum nahi chahte ke unhe lage ke hum unhe apne tareeke se chalne ka order de rahe hain. Tab woh nahi maanegi."
She looked toward the open door where Manvi had just exited.
"Humare samajhne se zyada... jab woh khud dekhegi apne surroundings mein, khud experience Karen gi... tab wo zaida bethar tareeky say samjen gi.."
Pushpa ji gave a small, thoughtful nod.
"Madam sir... ek aur baat thi."
Haseena looked up, still half immersed in the file.
"Ji, batayiye."
Pushpa ji clasped her hands. "Woh... Karishma ji ka suspension khatam hone wala hai. Toh agar woh wapas join karengi... toh Manvi ka transfer hoga kia."
