At 9.00pm....

‎Haseena came into the room slowly, closing the door behind her with great care as the unusual silence was so heavy that she also didn't want to make any noise. Her eyes searched the room until they found Karishma standing at the balcony, staring out into the space as if she was lost in her own thoughts. The evening light was fading, but Karishma didn't seem to notice. She just stood there, still and quiet, looking at nothing.

‎Haseena clutched her own hands together tightly, feeling the tension in her fingers. She took a deep sigh to release some worry. Then she moved towards Karishma slowly.

‎When she reached her she inhaled and gently slipped her arms around Karishma's waist. She held her breath, waiting to see if Karishma would pull away or say something. But Karishma didn't flinch. She didn't move. She simply stood there, allowing Haseena to hold her.

‎Haseena placed her chin on Karishma's shoulder and rested her face against her. For a moment, they stayed like that in silence.

‎"Aab kahan jayegi aap?" Haseena whispered softly. "Pura din guzar gaya aap ko humen ignore karty hue."

‎Haseena waited for her response she slowly lifted her chin and looked at her. Karishma slowly untied Haseena's hands and turned to face her. When their eyes met, Karishma said nothing but just looked at her with eyes full of pain and disappointment.

‎Haseena understood then that this was not the time for anything else.

‎"Hum jante han Karishma," Haseena said quietly, her voice shaked a little. "Ap gussa han hum se. Aap ka gusa hona jayaz bi ha....Hum aap ko batna chate tay par...."

‎"Kab...." Karishma voice was sharp.

‎Haseena looked at her for a moment. " kab batane wali ti ap humen, kis waqt, han ap ko time nae mila ho ga, Hain na.....Nae hum aur ap milte hi kahan han itne dure tou rehte han Kase batati aap humen."

‎"Aap gusa han......"

‎"Ap ko lagta ha hum gusa han?" Karishma cut her in middle.

‎Haseena opened her mouth to say something but looking at her she stopped.

‎"Hum hurt han Haseena," Karishma said, and now her eyes were glistening with tears. "Ap ka bar bar hum say baten chupane say. "

‎Haseena reached out and held Karishma's hands. "Karishma humra ap ko hurt karne ka erada bilkul bi nae ta hum nay soucha kay agar ap ko bata den tou ap nae mane gi joining kay liyay. Ap humri bat samjh hi nae payengi."

‎"Ap hamesha khud say kiyun souchti han Haseena?" Karishma pulled her hands away slowly. "Dikat yeh ha kay aap humra reaction bi khud say souchti han aur samjti han, hum mante yeh such ha hum nae mante aap ki bat, par yeh janti han na aap kay akhir ma maan hi jate ap kay liyay kuch bi compromise kar lete hum. aap mana hi leti humen. likan humeesha ki tarah aap nae batati han humen bas apna ak version rakhti han har bat ka aur us ka shuru akhir sab souch leti han aur khud faisla lay leti han....kay kia karna sae ho ga aur kia karna galat. "

‎The words hung in the air between them.  Because Karishma was right. She had been deciding everything for both of them. She had been choosing what Karishma would understand and what she wouldn't. She had been assuming  about Karishma's actions without asking her.

‎"Haseena," she said, her voice becoming quieter but somehow more intense. "Hum aap say urmila wali bat pay aisi kia bat ti jis say hum sab say zaida hurt hue tay."

‎Haseena's entire body went still.

‎"Karishma wo bat yahan kahan say aa gaye? Wo alag bat ha."

‎"Alag kaise ha Haseena?" Karishma took a step back, creating distance between them. She took a sigh that seemed to come from deep within her chest, as if she was gathering the courage to say, "Hum batate han. Hum sab say zaida takleef is bat ki ti kay ap nay hum say such chupaya. humen confidence ma nae lia"

‎Haseena's mind was already working, already trying to find words, already trying to explain. "Karishma wo bat kahtam ho chuki ha. Kab tak is bat ko repeat karte rahenge hum?"

‎But Karishma shook her head, and when she looked at Haseena, there was something broken in her expression. "Bilkul sae keh rahi han, Kahtam ho chuki ha bat, Phir ap bar bar woi same baten repeat kiyun karti han Haseena? Phir ap hum say kiyun bat chupati han. aap ko samj kiyun nae ata. Humen ab aap ka hum say kuch bi chupana trigger karta ha phir chahe wo choti bat ho ya bari bat."

‎The words landed like stones in still water, creating ripples that spread outward in all directions. Haseena's mind suddenly grasped what Karishma was really saying. It wasn't just about the Urmila incident. It wasn't just about that one lie.  This was about every time Haseena had kept something from her. Every time Haseena had made a decision without including her.

‎The past was bleeding into the present, and the present was making the past feel alive again.

‎"Haseena, aap ko pata masla kia ha? Aap har cheez apne hissab say souch kar karti han, aap ko lagta ha ap bad ma bata kar us bat ko compensate kar laen gi, aap jaisa result chati han wo mil jay ga ap ko aur mil bi jata ha aur sab sae ho jay ga bad ma ap mana len gi par aisa nae ha wo ap ka "baad ma" batana zaida takleef deta ha. Phele ki baat aur ti ab ki aur ha ap yeh kiyun nae dekh rahi han kay hum kitna badal gaye han?"

‎She pointed her index finger at Haseena's chest, and the gesture was full of so much emotion that Haseena felt her breath catch.

‎"Hum nay ap kay liye khud ko badala ha Haseena," Karishma continued, her voice breaking slightly. "Hum nay apna gusa shant kia ha. Hum nay jazabat say kaam lena shuru kia. Hum nay khud ko samjna shuru kia. Theek ha, mana hum gusa ho jate ap say. Kya ap nae dekh rahi?"

‎Haseena nodded slowly, because she did know. She knew that Karishma had changed. She had tried so hard to be better, to understand, to let go of anger. And Haseena had taken all of that effort and had still kept things from her. Still made decisions without her. Still treated Karishma like she couldn't handle the truth.

‎"Likn aap nay chuapaya," Karishma's voice became even quieter now, " ghar ma Kitna time ta aap kay pass aap humen bata sakti ti likan nae batya ap nay wahan pata chala tou humen zaida hurt hua. Kay kaise abi bi ap hum say sab chupa leti han baten? Aur shayad aage bi ap humre reaction khud say sooch kar faisla karne wali han. humeesha.?"

‎It wasn't an accusation anymore. It was a question. A desperate question.

‎"Nae, aisa nae ha," Haseena started, but Karishma held up her hand.

‎"Please....," Karishma said she didn't let Haseena finish. She couldn't listen to more explanations. she needed actions not words. She turned and walked towards the door.

‎Haseena watched her go. She watched Karishma's figure disappear from the room, and the door closed behind her with a soft click. And Haseena realized the very things about urmila about station her suspension she had sent Karishma away to forget, the very things she had wanted to protect Karishma from all the stress and trauma. Haseena had brought them all back. She had made them real again. She had made them hurt again.

‎Haseena was pacing back and forth in the room, her mind racing with a hundred different thoughts. Where had Karishma gone? Had she gone to her mother's room? Was she planning to sleep there? Haseena knew that Karishma had every right to be upset, every right to stay away, but the thought of spending the night alone in this room felt unbearable. She understood that anger had its place, that hurt needed space to breathe, but how could she just let things end like this? How could she let Karishma walk away with all these words hanging between them?

‎She moved forward suddenly, unable to stand the uncertainty anymore. "Chal kar dakh kar ate han, Ami kay pass baithi hun gi" she whispered to herself, deciding to go find Karishma, to see where she had gone, to try one more time to explain herself.

‎But before she could take another step, the door opened.

‎Karishma stood there in the doorway, holding a tray with food in her hands. Haseena stopped mid-step. Karishma moved towards her slowly, the tray still in her hands, and held it out towards Haseena.

‎"Khana kha lijeyay," Karishma said. It wasn't a request. It was almost an obligation wrapped in concern.

‎Haseena shook her head immediately. "Nae."

‎"Please Haseena. Baqi sab apni jaga ha aur yeh sab apni jaga. Ap bhooki soyen gi? Aisa tou hum so jayan gay kia aaram say? Please. Humen pata ha ap nay banaya ha humre liyay. Abi hum kha kar ayan han bahir say pait bar chuka ha nae tou zaror khate aap kay sath par rakh lia ha hum nay apne liyay. Kal khayan gay. Yeh abi ap kha lijeyay."

‎There was something in those words, It wasn't even acceptance. But it was care. It was Karishma still thinking about whether Haseena was eating, still worried about her health even when she was hurt. It was Karishma remembering that Haseena had made this food specially for her, that it had been prepared with love, and even though she was upset, even though they weren't speaking properly, Karishma didn't want that effort to go to waste. It was the kind of thing that showed that despite everything, despite the anger and the pain, her love had become more thoughtful, more aware, more careful.

‎Haseena nodded slowly and sat down. She took the tray from Karishma's hands, and as she began to eat, she watched as Karishma moved around the room, going through her night routine.

‎Then she lay down on her side of the bed, facing the other side from Haseena.

‎Haseena continued eating, the food tasting like nothing in her mouth, but she ate anyway because Karishma had asked her to. She ate because Karishma cared enough to bring her food even though she was hurt. She ate because this small act of care was the only thing connecting them right now.

‎As she ate, her mind began to work in a different way. She thought about how much Karishma had changed. It was true. There was so much evidence of it in the way she was handling this situation. Before, when Karishma used to get hurt, she would become angry. Impulsive anger that led to decisions made in the heat of the moment. Decisions that were harsh and sometimes regrettable. But this Karishma was different. This Karishma was still hurt, yes, but she was also calm. She was thinking before she spoke. She was trying to understand the situation instead of just reacting to it. She was choosing her words carefully, choosing her actions deliberately.

‎Haseena realized that Karishma had done the work. She had changed herself. She had learned to manage her emotions, to think before acting, to consider situations from different angles. And now it was Haseena's turn. Now it was her responsibility to change the way she thought about things. She needed to become more flexible. She needed to stop making decisions for both of them and start trusting Karishma's ability to handle the truth. She needed to learn that protecting someone didn't mean deciding for them. It meant trusting them enough to let them make their own choices.

‎When she finished eating, she set the tray aside quietly and did her night routine after a while she lay down on her own side of the bed  and looked at Karishma who was sleeping or just closing her eyes she slowly moved towards her and placed her hand on her hand which was kept on her stomach, Karishma didn't flinch or move which make haseena a bit relief but her mind was churning with this new understanding. She had been so focused on what Karishma needed to change that she hadn't seen what she herself needed to change. But now she saw it clearly. And the realization was necessary.

‎Morning....

‎Haseena stood in front of the mirror in the morning light, getting ready for the day. She had woken up early, unable to sleep through the night, her mind replaying every word Karishma had said over and over again. She was adjusting her uniform when she heard movement behind her.

‎Karishma was waking up. Haseena watched through the mirror as Karishma's hand reached out to the empty space beside her, searching for Haseena in the bed. When she didn't find her there, Karishma's eyes opened slowly. For a moment, she just lay there, her eyes moving around the room until they found Haseena standing at the mirror.

‎Haseena smiled at her reflection, trying to soften the distance that still hung between them.

‎"Good morning," she said, her voice gentle and careful.

‎Karishma looked at her for a moment, then responded with a simple "Good morning," but there was no smile on her face.

‎It was just a greeting, nothing more. And Haseena felt that lack of warmth like a small knife twisting in her chest.

‎Karishma got up from the bed and went into the washroom without saying any other word. Haseena watched her go, her heart sinking a little more. She stood there, pretending to be busy with her belt, adjusting it over and over even though it was already perfectly fastened. She was moving slowly, deliberately, waiting.

‎After a while, Karishma came out of the washroom. She paused for a moment. Through the mirror, their eyes met.

‎Haseena's mind was racing with questions. Should she ask Karishma if she was going to the station? Would she even want to go with her? or manvi being there Karishma changed her decision.  Or was it better to just wait, to give Karishma more space? The uncertainty was eating away at her. No, she decided. She would wait a little longer. She wouldn't push. She wouldn't ask. She would just wait and see what Karishma decided to do.

‎Karishma seemed to understand what was happening. She could see that Haseena was deliberately moving slowly, deliberately taking her time, leaving space for Karishma to decide whether she wanted to go or not. There was a kind of consideration in that slowness, a kind of apology.

‎Karishma went to the wardrobe and took out her own uniform and moved inside to get ready for the day. And Haseena, still standing in front of the mirror, took a deep relief sigh upon Karishma going station despite everything that happened. "Thank God...." she muttered.
