The week had dragged on, filled with the chaos of gross stew and the haunting echoes of restless nights. Each hour felt like an eternity, weighed down by endless arguments with Fagin. Finally, after what felt like an interminable stretch of despair, he heard those heavenly words again, cutting through the gloom like a ray of sunlight piercing a stormy sky.

"Dawkins, visitor."

He was already up the moment he heard the word, pushing himself up to the bars, almost bouncing with excitement like a puppy about to go on a walk.

The door opened, revealing Y/n in her large yellow dress. She happily scampered to the bar's basket in hand. "Jack darling!"

"Y/n!" He immediately reached for her, his fingers wrapping around the bars and clinging tightly to them. "I missed you! I missed you so much!"

She giggled and held him as close as she could with the bars between them, "I'm so happy to see you love." She smiled and leant up to give him kiss,

He returned to the kiss, relishing every single moment of touch from her. Even in this awful place, her very presence made him feel so damn happy. Eventually, the kiss ended, and he was almost sad. He didn't want to let her go, ever. He leaned his forehead against the bars, just looking at her and hoping to savour every moment.

"I made sure we had plenty of time together today." She smiled, "Father's been in his office all week with the captain, so I can only hope they're making progress."

"Good. At atleast something is happening out there." He sighs, his eyes flickering across her face. He then began eyeing her basket. "What have you got there?"

"I made you a little basket of treats to help make you feel better." She smiled, putting the basket in her lap, given that it was too big to fit through the bars.

Jack's eyes almost became glazed over with anticipation, his mouth practically watering at the thought of getting some proper fresh food. "Oh my... you're an absolute angel, Y/n..."

She smiled and slowly unpacked the basket for him. "I made you a nice fresh loaf of bread, I made you a nice peach pie, some marmalade tarts, I got you some of your medical books to read, and a pencil off notes and doodles. Uhh ohh yes and a blanket for the chilly evening."

"Y/n, you're perfect. Absolutely perfect..." He's almost completely overwhelmed, actully sobbing at her kindness, quickly taking the items into his cell, and immediately taking a chunk out the bread loaf, "Ummmmm... Ummm! God I love you..."

She laughed, about to close her basket,"oh! And a ball."

He raised an eyebrow still chewing the bread, "A ball?"

"Yes,"

"...Why?"

"... To play with,"

"I'm not a dog Y/n,"

"you could play squash," she suggested innocently.

He couldn't help but laugh, "You think I'd be able to play squash in here, love? Who's gonna play with me, Fagin?"

"I don't know, I just thought it would be fun."

"It's adorable, sweetheart. Utterly adorable. Thank you so much for all of this. I don't... I don't know how to thank you enough for this."

Y/n nodded with a smile, holding Jack's hand through the bars. "I did have one more thing to deliver."

He tilted his head, his thumb gently tracing across her knuckles. "Oh? And what would that be?"

"Some news." She blushed.

He raised an eyebrow, a little worried about it. "News? Good news or bad news...?"

"Well, I think it's good."

"Alright then, what is it?"

Y/n blushed harder, gathering the courage to tell him. "Well, I know my father will have to make sure they let you out of here. After all, he can't have the father of his grandchild rotting in a cell." She cooed.

He went completely silent for a moment, his eyes going wide. He almost had to double-take and make sure his ears heard right. "Y...You're... y... you're carrying a..." He sputtered out, not even able to say the word in disbelief. A small smile started to form on his face, even if he dared not get his hopes up too much.

She nodded excitedly. "A baby!"

A proper smile crossed his face, his mind starting to race. This was everything he could have ever hoped for... a family with Y/n. "I'm... I'm going to be a father...? You're sure?" His hand gripped hers tightly, and he leaned even closer to the bars, as if he was trying to get closer to her to confirm it for himself.

"I'm positive, Hetty at the hospital checked me yesterday." She giggled. "Three months, all perfect." She smiled,

His heart felt like it was about to burst. He was going to be a father, he had a proper family to look forward to. "Three months... That means you got pregnant right before I was locked up in here..." He suddenly looked guilty, feeling as if he had missed out on so much because of this. He wasn't there for her.

She nodded excitedly. "Just before the surgery." She smiled. "Look, just starting to pop." She giggled, flattening her dress to reveal the tiniest hint of a bump.

A sense of pride swelled in his chest. He had done that. He had gotten the woman he loved, pregnant. "I can't believe I actually managed to get you pregnant..." He chuckled, reaching out the bars as much as he could, wanting so badly to touch her belly, even if it was just for a moment.

Y/n happily shuffled close so Jack could feel her little bump,

He carefully moved his hands towards her, touching the bump gently, feeling for the first time a slight bulge. He could just imagine everything that was in there. The start of a new life... their baby. "You're carrying my baby..." He smiled, his hands holding her little stomach.

She nodded excitedly.

"I can't believe you're with child... that I actually got you pregnant...it feels unreal..."

"Mhm, little Jack Jr. swimming in my belly."

"I can't believe it... I'm going to be a father..." Once he got over the rush of emotions of it all. Of course, Jack immediately went into doctor mode, quizzing her about what she was eating, drinking, how much stress she was having, making sure he could know everything, almost giving her as much of a check-up as he could through the bars. His eyes kept darting over her little stomach bump, a slight frown on his face. He wasn't too experienced with pregnancies, but something seemed off... something with her bump just seemed too big for only three months."Y/n... sweetheart... three months Hetty said?"

"Mhm,"

"You're awfully big for only three months in..."

"You think so?" She asked.

He nodded, running his hand over her stomach, as if to confirm it for himself. "Very big.... you're bigger than you should be for that... unless you're carrying more than- one...?"

She gasped excitedly.

He smiled at her excitement, but continued to look at her little stomach bump. "Calm down... It's just a guess... I can't be sure, but that's the only reasonable explanation.... twins could explain it..."

"But there could be two little babies!! Or three!!'

His eyes were wide at that. "Three...? I doubt it's three but... it could be twins... you're carrying awfully heavy..."

"eeeeee!!!! Two little babies!" She squealed in excitement.

"Oh god, just what we need, more Jack in the world," Fagin complained.

"Shut up, Fagin." Jack snapped back, "But either way, I am so so happy, sweetheart. I promise I am going to get out of here, and we will raise our little family together." He cooed kissing her softly,

"I love you so much, Jack,"

"I love you more, y/n,"
