Magnolia

Jack finished up his paperwork for the day, handing Hetty his last few forms and tossing his jacket over his shoulders.

"Alright, I will see you on Monday then." He nodded.

"Before you run away," Hetty glared,

"...yes?"

"Post boy dropped this off today, said he wasn't sure where else to take it," she explained, setting a letter on the desk.

The letter was addressed to a 'Miss Magnolia Lenox'

Jack read it slowly, still doing his best to be better with his reading. But he grimaced at the name. "Magnolia? Never met anyone named Magnolia, isn't that a flower?"

"Yes," Hetty nodded, "But Lenox? Wasn't that Mag's last name before you two got married?"

"Hu..." He scoffed, "Yeah, Lenox was her maiden name before we got hitched."

"Maybe it's her sister?"

"Might be, I'll take it home anyway. Ask Maggie about it." He said as he slipped the letter into his pocket and headed out of the hospital.

Jack walked home as usual, his path well worn into his mind and boots. Arriving at the little house he called his home, he hung up his hat and coat as soon as he got in. He took the letter with him as he walked to the kitchen.

There he found his beloved wife.

Maggie stood making dinner, humming softly to herself as she cut up veg. When she heard his steps, she smiled, "Hello, darling! How was work?"

"Fine, the usual," he shrugged, "How was home?"

"Lovely as ever," she smiled, "You didn't miss anything important, no words, no steps."

"Good," he laughed, "I don't wanna miss them."

His mind turned back to the letter, tapping it softly in his hand, he grew curious about it. It was likely just something simple, a coincidence or something, for her sister sent to the wrong place? But maybe it was more than that, maybe... she had a secret identity! Maybe she had a criminal past and a whole life he didn't know about.

He supposed he couldn't be too angry at her... he did after all. But he'd told her everything before they got married.

"Maggie?"

"Yes, Jack?"

"Do you know anyone by the name of Lenox?"

She scoffed, "Yes. It was my name before I became a Dawkins."

"I know... but do you know anyone else?"

"Well, my siblings, I suppose,"

"Do you know anyone named Magnolia?" He asked carefully,

"Yes."

"So it's your sister?"

"No."

"No? Then who's Magnolia Lenox?"

"I am."

"Y-you are?!"

"Yes, Jack."

"Your name is Magnolia?!"

"Yes."

"And you didn't think to tell me that!"

"You never asked," She shrugged,

"We- We are married!" He protested, "We have a daughter!"

"Yes? Both of you I love very much."

"Not enough to tell us your real name?"
