"So she's just another of your ... paramours from before we met?" Belle asked in her tone pointed and clearly jealous and angry. As she and Jack had been in the hospital theatre debating this for what felt like the last four hours.

"not uhh... not exactly.." Jack tried desperately to explain.

"She was his first!" Fagin butted in from his place on the theatre steps, finding this all deeply amusing.

"She's what?!" Belle yelled.

"Shut up, Fagin!" Jack hissed, "Belle, it's not... like that..."

"What did he mean first?" Belle asked, her rage pointed directly at Jack.

Jack looked uncomfortable, more awkward than he's ever been as he avoided eye contact with his raging fiancée. "She was my first... u-uh... love.." Jack finally admitted.

"Love? How cute." Fagin butted in one more. "Translation, Jack and Evie were the couple of Clarke well green for as long as I remember, used to sneak out of our hideout to go and fool around under the Eastwick bridge. Hell, they got-" Fagin bega,n but Jack shut him up, literally putting a hand over the older man's mouth.

"Fagin, stop talking!" Jack hissed again at his old mentor, a vein popping in his head.

"What!" she screamed, "Tell me the truth. Now." Belle demanded

Jack let out a sigh. "We... we used to date when we were younger..." he grudgingly admitted, coming closer to her, trying to soothe her, only to be pushed away.

"Did you love her?!"

"Belle... it was long ago... it was different..."

"He was head over heels for her love. He was obsessed with her." Fagin commented,

"Did you plan to marry her?!" Belle asked, her rage only getting worse.

Jack looked even more uncomfortable and embarrassed if that was possible. "I-... at the time...yes I did.." he finally admitted.

Belle nodded and, without another word, she hitched the skirt of her dress and stormed out of the theatre.

Jack cursed and ran after her. "Belle! Wait!" he called out, following her.

Unfortunately, she was pretty fast, and by the time Jack got outside, her carriage was already heading off down the street.

Jack panted and cursed, running a hand through his hair. He soon spotted Evelyn sitting on the stairs of the hospital's courtyard to the side, she'd, of course, been witnessed to everything that had gone on, but given Belle and Jack far more privacy than Fagin did. "This is your fault!" he snapped as he started walking over to her.

"What have I done?" She asked.

Jack stopped on the steps in front of her. "You showed up. Out of the blue. After all this time," he hissed.

She hopped off the stone and fixed her dress with a disbelieving chuckle. "You really have that much of an ego?"

Jack crossed his arms, "My ego had nothing to do with it. I didn't expect to see you, and you just showed up! Throw my life into chaos!"

"You think you came here for you!" She argued. "You think I'm happy about this either? I came here to start a life of my own, a new start, last thing I wanted was to bump into my old boyfriend! I had no idea you were here, how could I? You disappeared all those years ago, how was I suppose to know you were here half way around the world from where I last saw you."

Jack's anger simmered a bit as she spoke, "You... had no idea I was here?" he asked, his tone softer from his previous cold one.

"No! I was as surprised as you to find out what happened to you..."
