The Escapist

I'm escaping this life to start over again,

I'm leaving this town to escape from the pain

I've tasted the world I want to be in

so this dirty old town is wearing me thin

FUCK your assumptions of who I am

you do not know me, I doubt that you can

I try to explain, make you all understand

but you burried my feelings deep in the sand.

I hate who I am when I'm in this town

I hate all the words that put us all down

for your sake and mine it's time to part way,

to step through that door to a new brighter day.

I ask for forgiveness, I ask for your pride

to be proud of the one who could no longer hide

I'm releasing the shackles

I'm breaking these chains

to step into the world and to love once again

alone, but alive.
