Bellamy
Bellamy rubbed his temple with his forefingers as he listened to the campers questions, wishing desperately to be away.
"What took you so long?" one camper asked
"Did you fight Grounders?" another called
"Ooh! Did you find Mount Weather?" a girl said, practically screaming in his ear
Bellamy sighed from his place upon the dropshift ramp and sat down, ruffling his hair. It had been three days since Clarke had awoken and since then she hadn't opened her eyes once. Monty was at his wits end taking care of her and all the other injured campers because apparently the Grounders had been killing people when Bellamy and the others left. It was a disaster and Bellamy was ready to explode, he didn't want this, he hadn't asked for this. He had only went down to Earth for Octavia and even now she was being reckless, leaving camp at night and getting caught up with boys too old for her young age.
"Is Clarke dead?"
At that Bellamy stood up, "Who said that?" he snarled
Silence.
"Bellamy", Monty said, sticking his head out from behind the curtain, "You wanna see this."
All of Bellamy's anger fell as quickly as it had erupted and was replaced by a worry. He walked over to Monty, "Is she alright?" he asked, the slightest quiver in his voice
Monty didn't answer and beckoned him inside the dropship.
"Monty," Bellamy said, warning, "If anything's happened to her, I'll kill you."
Monty shushed him and pulled him inside, he led him to Clarke's bunk. Bellamy swallowed his fear and looked up.
Clarke was awake, sitting up, a soft smile playing across her red lips. Bellamy let go of the breath, he hadn't noticed he was holding.
"Clarke." he whispered, "Oh thank god." he walked to her side
"How do you feel?" he asked sitting down
"Better. Much better thanks to Monty."
Bellamy was at a loss of words and Clarke laughed, it felt so good to hear her laugh.
"What? What happened" she asked
"Nothing. Nothing happened, I'm just happy you're okay."
"You looked shocked. You know Bellamy, I'm not one to give up and die."
"No, you're not. Can you stand?"
"I think?"
Bellamy laughed and helped her out of bed, she leaned against him for support and he wrapped his arms around her and what began as a support turned into a hug. Bellamy buried his face into her hair and held her, quietly, content.
Clarke
Clarke was surprised at Bellamy's show of affection but obliged to be protected by his embrace and she melted into him. She stood there and suddenly realized just how much she liked how her body touched his and how his arms wrapped themselves around her back and how her face rested against his chest which was warm and smelt of pinewood.
After what seemed forever, Monty cleared his throat and Bellamy released Clarke. His arms hung unhappily at his sides and he looked at Monty questioningly.
"Clarke's still recovering, she needs rest. Plus she needs to eat something." Monty said
Bellamy helped Clarke into bed and left her to Monty. He needed to attend to the campers and now that his head was cleared of worry he could think properly. Clarke watched him leave and smiled at Monty.
"Soup?" she asked hopefully
"Soup." he said holding out a bowl.
Clarke thanked him gratefully and ate the soup as Monty talked with Jasper about Jasper's love for Octavia.
