"You're evil!" The mob shouted at Ahanay, surging towards the gates. "How dare you snatch our poor people's homes!"

"You deserve to be hanged!"

"You cannot take what's ours! You cannot take our childhoods, our children's childhoods!"

"You cannot buy us with money!"

As if on cue, Ahanay signalled his bodyguard and suddenly, money started raining from the sky like autumn leaves falling from trees. Hard, crisp, real notes taken from his safe fell down. The confused mob looked up till one of them screamed in disbelief that it was real money. The crowd who was paid to protest went wild as the leaders stood stunned. People scrambled to gather money, stepping on each other and forgetting everything. Before Ahanay could feel the satisfaction of his plan seeping in his bones, Ramesh ran down breathless, bringing a news that would break him.

Everything went black because Naina had closed her eyes as a bullet was shot. But a cuss word from behind said that it didn't hit her, in fact, it wasn't even shot by the skeleton man. To her surprise, urging cat-eyes stared intensely at her, Ohas had shot his gun which had grazed the skeleton man's arm, leaving just enough time for Naina to tumble towards her ex best-friend.

"Who the fuck are you!" The skeleton man cursed as he began chasing them down the stairs, shooting bullets blindly. Ohas and Naina, hand-in-hand, ran for their lives, ducking and dodging the bullets. Both had spent their entire childhood running on bare feet in their colony so it wasn't long before that they had safely put some distance between them and the skeleton man whose panic caused him to stumble and tumble all the way.

"I ran out of bullets or I would shoot the fuck out of him," Ohas said under his breath as they burst through the backdoor, hearing the clumsy footsteps of the skeleton man. "I climbed from the pipe behind, but we can't go that way. It's easier for him to shoot us!"

"Let's go the main way, we need to find Ahanay! Please, please, save him!"

"He has saved himself," Ohas said bitterly as they burst into the crowd of wildness,  people clambering on top of each other to grab a note.

"I need to find him!"

"I'm not letting you go!"

Just then the skeleton man shot a bullet through the air, sending people to a frenzy as now they ran for their lives, forgetting the raining money. Before Ohas could grab hold of Naina, she fearlessly ran towards the crowd, trying to reach the main gate. Ohas tried to follow suit when his eyes saw a glimpse of Priya, her pale, angelic face, distressed as a mob of people pushed at her. And there was the skeleton man, waving his gun in the air, straight at her.

Ohas didn't have to think twice, he was already in front of Priya, pulling her when another shot echoed through the air. Horrified screams filled the air as his eyes connected with Priya. He was about to smile at her soft face, to just see the love of his life made him calm despite the chaos around him. But Priya's eyes widened as they travelled to his abdomen, to the blood gushing out of his open wound.

He was shot.

Ohas had been shot many times in his life, but he knew this one was different. His breathing quickened and heart raced as he found himself collapsing to the ground. Through blurry vision, he saw Priya trying to reach him, fighting desperately with the crowd that pulled her backwards till they consumed her whole body. Just her pale hand stuck out, flailing, trying to reach him- the same hand in which he wanted to put a ring on. The hand which he wanted to hold through thick and thin, the hand which he wanted to see grow old and weathered. The hand which had once softly held his face as she had kissed him, showing a love that he never dreamed to get in his life. Now, that hand was gone.

Panicked people ran over his body, feet digging deep in his wound, killing him slowly. The same people that he had tried to rob and play like pawns were now robbing him of his life. As the last few breaths were knocked out of his body, Ohas dreamed of a life that he wanted to have.

"So," Priya said playfully as she sat on Ohas' lap, straddling him. Her angelic body was as naked as the day she was born, her huge, pregnant belly pressed against him. "What do you think we should name him?"

"You can pick," he said, feeling her soft hands play with her hair.

"You have to also take interest. He's our baby."

"I'm taking interest in you. I'm interested to know what you want and I'm here to always honor it."

"What I want is for you to never leave our side."

"Without a doubt," he said, feeling two heartbeats as she cuddled against him.

His own heartbeats slowed and stopped with one last kick from the mob, his cat eyes staring lifelessly at the sky.

A hand pulled Naina out of the crowd, crashing her safely against a familiar chest. "You're here."

"Ahanay," she wanted to weep in relief, to find him safe and sound made her feel safe.

"I wouldn't have been able to live if anything has happened to you," he breathed in worry, pulling her somewhere, Naina didn't care where. "Ramesh told me you were gone, where were you? Are you hurt?"

"No, it was- it doesn't matter. We need to save Ohas---"

"Why, that asshole is here!"

"He rescued me from the skeleton man! He came here to save him! I know you hate him, but we can't leave him here."

"We don't have time for any of that. The helicopter is ready, let's go."

"He saved me---"

"Listen, we don't have time. I will send my men to search for him and bring him to safety, but we need to go now. Okay?" Seeing the desperation in his eyes for her own safety, Naina couldn't say no. For she wanted her husband to be safe too, to be away from this chaos. And just like the rich people whom she once abhorred to use their rich privileges and escape, Naina rushed into the helicopter, staring at the scurrying crowd that grew smaller in size like insignificant ants, staring at them run on feet for their lives, staring unknowingly at the lifeless Ohas from the sky.
