Chapter 25- Ending: Natsume

*Natsume's POV*

I entered a warehouse and then all of a sudden, I hear a gunshot followed by a horrifying scream.

A horrifying scream I knew all too well... Calista.

I made my way towards the source of the commotion.

*Calista's POV*

I screamed in pain falling oy the ground. I clutched my bloody, pained leg as Willem put away his gun and walked closer.

"Don't run away from me. Stay right here." Willem said and pushed my body onto the floor. "Stop it! Let go!"

I screamed at him and squirmed around but nothing seemed to work. He wouldn't let me go, infact, it only made him tighten his grip.

I squeezed my eyes shut and whispered "Natsume... Please help me..." I felt Willem's breath on my neck.

The door broke open and Natsume stormed in unpleasantly. He grimly looked at Willem who has mounted me. He got up, walked over to Natsume, and looked down at him.

"I was expecting someone taller to show up. Are you her little brother?" Willem asked mockingly. "What!? Just because I'm short doesn't mean... Ugh, I didn't come here for this!" Natsume said and pulled out his weapon.

Willem pulled out his gun and pointed it towards him.

"N-natsume!" I called out and I heard a gunshot fire. As soon as it fired, Willem disapeared.

Natsume walked up to me unharmed from quickly moving his head back. He grabbed my arm and helped me up but-

"Ow ow ow!!!" A pain shot through my leg as I stood on it. Natsume let go of my arm quickly and I dropped to the floor.

Blood spilled down my leg and I bit my lip in pain. "We have to get you to the doctor's! Let's go!"

Natsume said and scooped me up into his arms. "Natsume..."
"What is it?"
"Thank you..." I said that and my vision got darker and darker. Before I blacked out I saw Natsume's cheeks turn red.

"Stay awake! We will be there soon!" His voice got to me but right after his sentence, I blacked out.

I opened my eyes and looked around. I wasn't in the hospital but I could feel the bandage on my leg. I stared at the unfamiliar ceiling and then looked over to see Natsume.

He turned around and ran to my side. "How's your leg?"
"It's good. Uh, where are we?"
"In my library. Behind the store actually."

I nodded my head and looked around. I sat up and a long silence paused in between us. I broke that silence.

"Hey... Natsume?"
"Yeah?"
"... I love you."
"..." He didn't speak. He opened his eyes wider then turned around and left the room.

A couple seconds later he comes back in, still red and runs up to my bedside.

"How's your leg?"
"H-huh? But... You already asked me this."
"Huh? What are you talking about? You just woke up."

I tilted my head to the side and said "uh, it's good."

Another silence. Still confused I looked down and Natsume spoke up. "Hey, Calista?"
"Hm?"

"I love you."

"H-hey! You just redid what I-"
"What are you talking about? No I didn't."
"Wait... You didn't want me to say it first, did you."
"Whaaat? Psh, no way."

I laughed and spoke up. "I love you too, Natsume."

Natsume lifted up my bangs and kissed my forehead. His lips traveled down to mine and we kissed long and passionately.

A couple weeks passed and I started to work for Natsume at the Natsumedo Library.

"Thank you, come again!" I said and waved goodbye to the customer.

It's so busy today... "Yowch!" I yelped as Natsume pulled on the side of my cheek from behind me. "Natsume! I told you to stop pulling on my cheeks!"

Natsume laughed whole heartedly and let go. He kissed me on the cheek and went to put some books away.

It's been like this since that one day... Not that I'm complaining or anything like that. Quite the opposite actually. I'm really happy.

I've never been this happy before.

I always thought that love wouldn't last. This time I know...

True love never dies.

It only gets stronger with time.
