Chapter Three

“Hey!” I yelled at the secretary. “How long does it take to get a fucking schedule?!”

            “Aiden,” Maxwell whispered, “it’s okay.”

I sighed in frustration and leaned on the counter. I didn’t care if this kid ever got his schedule, I just wanted to get the fuck out of here. “Here you go, Maxwell,” the secretary said, smiling at him.

“Thank you, ma’am,” I snorted. The secretary giggled. If being called ma’am makes her giggle, then I doubt she has ever had a boyfriend in her fucking life. “Aiden, where’s my locker?” I looked down at the kid, noting black was coloring his left eye.

“Sorry,” The word felt foreign coming out of my mouth, “about that.” I gestured to his eye. Maxwell shrugged.

“It’s okay,” I cleared my throat.

“Whatever. Your locker is by the Home Ec. room, 438. Down this hallway, take a left go through the sophomore hall, then take a right to the Junior hall.”

            “Wh-where will you be?”

            “The Senior wing.”

            “O-oh,”

“Yeah. I gotta go.” I was halfway out the door when I heard Maxwell tell me goodbye.

Maxwell’s POV

I stood in the office as Aiden walked away. The secretary eyes me like I was her date. A shudder ran up my spin as I started to walk away. I exited the office just as the ball rang. Kids swarmed through halls and talked loudly. “Oh my gosh, did you hear.,..” “Bro! That party was sick…” “I need some Tylenol, ASAP….” “She did what…” All the noises invaded my head and gave me a terrible headache. No one would shut up.

“Okay, think,” I whispered to myself, sure that no one would hear. “Aiden said to go down this hallway, so go down it.” My feet started moving with all the other kids. Long blonde hair smacked me in the face as some girl turned around. She wasn’t even aware I was there. I quickened my pace to try and get away from all the kids. “Now, take a left.” My legs followed the order and soon I was in the sophomore hallway. The kids weren’t that much taller than the freshmen, but they were even louder. Kids were shoving each other and mock fighting.

“You’re gonna get it!” A tall boy with brown hair started chasing a blonde boy at high speed. The blonde boy kept getting bigger and bigger until I was sure I was going to be run over. My eyes widened and a gasp escaped my lips right before the blonde boy made a sharp left. The other boys eyes widened when he realized he couldn’t make stop in time. “Shit!” His body collided with mine, knocking me to the ground.

“Owww,” I groaned, holding my head.

“Sorry, kid,” he said, offering a hand to help me up. “You really should o back to the freshmen hall, though.” I accepted his hand and stared at the ground.

            “I-I’m a J-Juniour.”

“Oh,” the boy eyed me. “You sure?” I nodded, eyes still on the floor. “Sorry again, then. I’m Marco, and had better get to class.” I nodded and made a beeline towards the exit.

This day had been going fantastically.
