"Ssh, can you shut up for one second?"

The redhead is bending down to the ground so focused that it seems impossible she was the one talking. Her ear is carefully resting on the safe, and her light and clever eyes wander from one corner of the room to the other, almost following a mysterious pattern.

Luffy is standing pretty close to Nami as a slight smile appears on his face, the boy is too enthusiastic to contain it. He can't believe he entered the marine base and was about to steal the map for the Gran Line. And on top of that, he found three new crew members! His captain's life just started but is already going pretty well.

A weak sorry escape from the boy's thin lips as he approaches her new friend.
This is indeed a strange relationship because from the annoyed look Nami gave him it looks like a unilateral friendship.

Without being discouraged by her attitude, or perhaps simply not noticing it, Luffy finally kneels on the floor ready to actively participate in the mission when suddenly a loud and scary sound fills Axe Hand's studio.

An alarm!

Instinctively the boy put a hand on his straw hat: "Uh... Do you think they know we're here?"

"No, I think they're after the other thief and idiot pirate trying to steal a map"

A bright smile lit up Luffy's expression: "What are the odds of that?"

The girl completely ignores him, she has already reached the limit of endurance. Why was a kid like that bothering her?

"Kidding - Luffy coughs holding back his enjoyment - but you might want to work a little fast-

BANG!

The door is wide open and there's smoke everywhere, as if someone set the office on fire. Luffy jumps in the air and widens his eyes without being able to say anything. Namy is paralysed not knowing what to do.
Without a doubt, she'd have preferred to see enter from that door Axe Hand rather than...

"...A pirate"

Nami whispers sourly.

"HEY! She's my crewmate, I can't believe you're back!"

"I'm not your mate" Kai puts away the lighter, with which she set fire to the lock on the door, in her big and thick belt as she enters the room. She observes the girl still bent over on the ground and with a grimace remembers having previously seen her roaming the city.

When Luffy announced with a smile that he didn't have any crew was he lying? Was that redhead a "partner in crime" of his?
How many more people were following Luffy?

Maybe the kid was smarter than he had shown. While wondering about these things Kai looks around the room, scrutinising it carefully.

And maybe outside the military base, there is a group of pirates who are waiting for their captain Luffy. (Y/N) could escape and take their ship.
But if Luffy had actually told the truth, running away like that would have marked the end of the girl.
No, the pirate had to take that kid and give him to Axe Hand, in the hope of regaining his graces and being able to return to her devastating life, to her cruel father, and her horridous crew.

A bitter taste fills Kai's mouth when she thinks of what her life was a long time ago. (Y/N) would have been so disappointed in her. But in the end, the one who hurt her less to disappoint was exactly (Y/N).

Or at least that's what Kai thought.

"How did you find us? Have you finally decided to come with me?" Luffy smiles at the pirate as he opens his arms, approaching her almost as if he were trying to hug the young girl. With a lightning movement, Kai grabs Luffy's arm and pulls him towards her, making the boy emit a little scream, which could easily be confused with a scream of excitement.
