"Fuck"

The studio is completely dim light, almost too dark. A small lumen resting on the desk emits a slight light.

The boat sways, left and right, carrying my studio with it.

Left and right, my body accompanies its movements.

Left and right.

Left and right.

"Fuck fuck fuck"

I harshly crumple the paper on the desk.

"Captain"

I raise my head: a voice calls me from outside the door.

"Come in"

"I'm sorry to disturb you, captain" The door slowly opens: a man of my crew is staining right in front of me.

I stay silent, so he continues to talk. Or rather, to stutter.

"Captain, we have a problem"

I squeeze the poster I had crumpled between my fingers. I know we're almost at Shells Town, but I didn't think that even getting slithy close to the 153rd Marine base would have already created issues.

"Go on"

"The pirate hunter... - he swallows loudly - that man you're worried about..."

"Worried about?"

He immediately belt up.

I put my hands on the edge of the desk and stand up. My knuckles turn white for the force I use to squeeze the table.

"Captain I..."

"Don't"

I fix my eyes on the man as I walk towards him, my slow steps go into rhythm with the oscillation of the ship.

"Who told you I'm worried about that man?"

He bites his lip, his face is twisted with anxiety. We are next to each other, and at this distance, I can see the small wrinkles that are starting to form around his eyes.

I slowly put my lips closer to his ear: "Do you think I should be?"

"No, absolutely no captain" he's quick to respond.

"Do you think he's strong?"

"Well, he... he definitely brought home a lot of bountys..."

"Is he stronger than me?"

"He could never have, captain"

"Mh" I think of his words, letting silence do the work for me: the less I talk, the more concerned the man looks.

I look him straight in the eye.

"Captain Kai I'm so sorry, it was a misunderstanding"

I walk away from his tense face, a drop of sweat sliding down his forehead.
A feeble "oh" escapes from my lips.

"Who told you I'm afraid of Zoro?"

Silence.

"Answer me"

"Captain Kai, the navigator..."

I raise a hand to make him stop talking. I can't stand his voice anymore.

I hate how insecure my men can be. They know I hate their babble and their insecurity, so why do they behave like this every time?
How can they even think to clean the ship's jetty if when I ask them a question they shit themselves?

I stand for a few seconds, hands in my pockets. I look away from the man to glance at the big painting behind my desk.
It's one of my best works.

I don't go near to look at my father's severe face, it is clearly visible from here.
