Zoro's laugh fills the empty yard.

Kai's lips curl in a smile.

There are zero wanted posters of her in the city all thanks to her watchful father. Since the pirate works with the government, he can ask for favors here and there.
And (Y/N), after leaving Zoro's village, implored her father to hide her from the world.
To make her completely disappear.

He accepted because he knew that was the only way for his daughter to, one day, follow in his footsteps. More or less, two years ago, Kai popped out of the blue and began to execute her father's atrocious teachings. Only after her entrance, the bounties began. But in some cities under the direct control of the Marine chiefs Burn Hand was dealing with, the pirate had asked not to reveal his daughter's bounty. In the hope of giving less in the eye and allowing her to enter the city however he pleased.

Of course, after her behavior (Y/N)  knew that her bounty would have been on every wall and in every bar.

Kai's smile quickly fades away the moment her attention moves to Luffy's head: the boy's hat catches her attention.

When Luffy settled it with confidence on his head, the girl's eyes had lit up. Now he remembered where he had already seen it!

"It can't really be that hat"

The girl's thoughts distract her from the strange proposal just made by the aspiring pirate, who is now fiercely straight in front of them, his hands resting on his hips.

"What makes you think I wanna play pirates with you" Zoro stretches his neck towards Luffy, almost hoping that way he will better understand his words.

The air is still dry and the sun, if possible, is more scorching than before, but the young boy doesn't seem to be affected by the weather. He has entered a Marine base without any problems and now that he is faced with two potentially dangerous enemies, he is not worried at all.

He smiles as if he is satisfied with something, in a genuine way that is rare to find.

The thick eyebrows and dark curls embellish a face full of hopes.

"You're a great fighter. And you too!"

Kai awakens abruptly from her thoughts when Luffy's finger rests recklessly on her.

"You haven't told me your name yet"

"Kai"

"Why you don't talk to others but with me you're such a brat?"

While approaching Luffy Kai suddenly hits Zoro's head, who received the strong slap, regrets his mistakes.

"You two made a really good team - continues Luffy undisturbed -I'd say that together we'd make a pretty good crew"

"I kill your kind for a living - Zoro's eyes are fixed on the little boy who seems to be having fun testing his patience - pirate... hunter"

He's exasperated, but his annoyance is overcome by the astonishment at Luffy's stupidity.

For some people, it could be naivety or good heart.

Zoro really only perceives him as slow.

"I already have a crew, bud - lies Kai - So now, do you wanna tell me why you broke in the base or not?" She raises an eyebrow.

"Oh, right! I want the map to the gran Line!"

"The map...

... to the grand Line - Luffy tilts his head - you're not a real pirate if you've never heard of it"
