The sunlight streaming from my window woke me up from my dream. The dream was already fading and I only remember fragments of it. I remember meeting a beautiful man from the stars... So beautiful, he made me cry... I got up,stretched and went to take a bath. It's time to face hell, I mean, school today.
I've always been shy, and that shyness hasn't improved even when I grew up. People mistake it for haughtiness, though I tried to tell them otherwise. Because of that, I ended up being a 'ghost girl', the one who everyone forgets exists, the last one chosen for everything, the wallflower, the face in the crowd. Invisible.
After changing, I ate my breakfast, brushed my teeth, locked the door and headed out. The sun was shining and for that one instant of every day, I felt hopeful that maybe I can be seen or noticed by someone.
Of course I was wrong. The day went by, and school ended, and I am still the 'ghost girl'. Tomorrow will be better, I say to myself.
The ocean was a 15 minute walk from school and after classes, I head on there to talk to the stars. As I was going there, I heard someone crying out for help, and went to check it out. I saw a man being cornered by some thugs and without thinking, I picked up some stones and threw them. While most of them missed, a couple struck their heads (and some struck the victim), which distracted them... And made me their target instead.
I did the only logical thing.
I ran.
I ran and ran and my legs ached and my lungs burned. I felt the edges of my vision fading and as I slowed, they seem to get faster, nearer. Gasping for air, I cried for help, but it came out as a whisper. The last thing I remember was seeing the ocean and stars, hands, being grabbed...
Then darkness.
