Since Jackson left yesterday I'm dreading tonight. He no longer will be there to save me from a horrible meeting with Calum or cheer me up afterwards.
But I'm a big girl in need of a good grade, so I pack my bag and take the picnic blanket and the telescope. On my way out I shout a quick goodbye to my mum promising to be back before midnight since it's a school night.
I'm late. But I don't really care. Calum probably won't even be here.
I head to the same spot as last time. Right there next to the big meadow where I sat is already a blanket spread out, a dark silhouette sitting on top. I know who it is before he even turns around and sends me his significant cocky smile.
"Hey, Ally."
"Stop calling me that, Cal."
I sit down next to him, getting the telescope and my notes ready.
"Can we just get this over quickly, so I can get home again?"
"Come on, Ally. I even brought us a snack."
I look up at him confused as he offers me some chips. Rolling my eyes I get back to my notes.
I am surprised to see him fumbling with the telescope and not doing a bad job at it like he did it before.
"Okay, it's all set up. Now we just have to wait a little."
Not trusting him I check the position of the telescope and he is right.
"Told you it's ready."
He sends a cheeky smile my way and grabs for some of his chips. Nothing but the wind and the quiet rustling of leafs is heard for a while before Calum speaks up again.
"I've got an idea."
A dreadful feeling spreads in my stomach since I highly doubt his ideas mean anything good for me.
"Let us play 20 questions to pass the time."
See, a stupid idea just as I thought.
"20 questions? And you think I would spill my secrets to you? Surely not."
"Come on, Ally! It'll be fun and I know you want to, you are just too scared."
"As if."
"Good, then it's settled. I'll start with an easy one."
I just roll my eyes and change my position to sit more comfortable on the ground.
"Is there another brother I have to know about?"
A confused look crosses my features. "No, Jackson's my only brother."
He smiles at that. "Good, I can handle him. Your turn."
"Why are you such a jock?"
"Ouch, that hurt, Ally."
"Stop calling me Ally!"
"Definitely not." A smirk appears on his pink lips as he adds in a slow voice. "Ally."
I roll my eyes. "Jock."
"Okay next round: Where've you been for the last couple of years? I can't remember ever noticing you at school."
"Probably because you were too focused on yourself and the other cool kids. Which brings me back to my still unanswered question: why are you such a jock?!"
He just chuckles and eats some more chips. "It just comes naturally with being the best on your football team. But believe me I worked hard to be there."
