The study was drowned in a suffocating silence.

The air didn’t move, as if it feared Atharv Rajvansh’s next breath.

He sat still, almost unnervingly so, fingers tapping rhythmically against the carved teakwood armrest of the chair—tap, tap, tap—each sound echoing louder in the heavy quiet.

Rachit and David stood stiffly across from him, exchanging uneasy glances.

They were ready—ready for an explosion, a roar of fury, a shattering of something.

But nothing came.

Only silence.

That was worse.

Then, Atharv’s voice sliced through the air—calm, deep, too measured to be natural.

“Who did this?”

His gaze didn’t lift.

His voice didn’t waver.

But his jaw ticked, a sharp pulse of fury beneath the surface.

David swallowed hard.

“We’re on it, boss.”

Atharv’s fingers stopped tapping.

He slowly stood, a storm rising behind those icy eyes.

“You have twelve hours to find out.”

His voice was low, almost a whisper—but one that cracked through their nerves like a whip.

“If not... you both resign.”

David nodded, determination stiffening his spine.

“I’ll find it, sir.”

Atharv’s eyes finally met his—sharp, calculating.

“This doesn’t leave this room.” He paused, the words hanging heavy.

“No one knows. Especially her. She can’t know. Not now. Not ever.”

He paced once, then stopped abruptly.

“This was an attack.” He said it like a verdict.

“But until we find out who, we behave normal. Increase security around her—but in civil clothes. Subtle. Silent. She must not feel even a flicker of fear.”

Both men straightened.

“Yes, boss.”

“Dismissed.”

They left without another word.

As the door clicked shut, Atharv stood still for a second longer.

And then he moved.

Out of the study.

Out of the suffocation.
