The grand hall had just begun to empty when Atharv was informed of Inaara's sudden exit.
The smile he'd been wearing for the guests vanished in a blink, replaced by a cold wave of anxiety.
He didn't wait to hear another word-he was already heading to the penthouse, his strides sharp and focused, every step echoing the rising panic in his chest.
The moment he opened the door to their bedroom, a grim silence greeted him-followed by chaos.
The first thing he noticed was the mess.
Her jewellery lay scattered like broken promises across the floor.
A pair of heels-one toppled, one halfway across the room.
Her clutch tossed carelessly onto the arm of the couch.
And Inaara-sitting on the edge of the bed, her hands clenched into trembling fists, her entire body rigid with rage, eyes swollen with unshed tears and fury that had nowhere to go but out.
"aara..." Atharv's voice dropped, concern clouding his usual composure.
He walked towards her, cautiously.
"Baby... what happened?"
As soon as his words touched the air, Inaara stood up in a blur of motion.
Before he could process it-
Smack.
Her hand collided against his cheek with such force that his face turned sideways from the impact.
A loud gasp echoed from the walls, but it wasn't hers.
It was his.
Atharv slowly turned back to face her, eyes wide, a sharp red imprint blooming on his cheek.
Fury lit his features, his jaw clenching as if holding back the volcano within.
"What the hell, Inaara?!" he roared, his voice echoing.
"Why did you slap me?!"
Inaara's eyes were glowing red-not just from tears, but the fire of betrayal she believed she had seen with her own eyes.
Her chest was heaving, breath ragged, voice cracking under pressure.
"Because you deserved it!" she screamed.
"You cheat! You cheated on me with that girl! How could you?!"
Atharv's brows furrowed in disbelief, his hands balling into fists.
"What the fuck are you saying? Have you lost your mind?! How could you even think that?!"
Her voice cracked, but her anger didn't waver.
"Don't pretend like you don't know!" she spat.
"You... you liar. You said you love me, but you're still with her. Your long-time love. Was I just a joke to you? A replacement? A body to keep your bed warm until she returns?!"
