Ch 12: Surprise Reunion

Narrator Pov

A few hours had passed since the incident, the villains arrested, and the dead creatures taken for examination. The class and teachers were escorted back to UA by the other teachers, just to ensure their safety. After a quick check up with Recovery Girl, they were surprised to find their wounds mysteriously healed, the only exception being Kaito, who was still unconscious.

During the examination, Recovery Girl was shocked as he started shaking violently, his vitals going all over the place, but before she could do anything, it ceased, his vitals returning to normal. She remarked that despite his pale skin and weakened state, he was otherwise healthy, the only strange thing she found being his left eye now completely black and a dark streak in his hair. Venom was still able to speak, reassuring everyone he was fine, just exhausted.

With that, she connected an IV bag to provide the needed nutrients before letting the others visit, Venom remaining out to ease their concerns. "Is he really going to be fine? I mean, I don't want to lose him after all our effort." Toru said, looking at her hands as Mina did with hers, their hands felt numb to them after the countless high voltage shocks they had endured. "Kaito is a stubborn bastard, if there's one thing he does well, it's surviving against the odds." Venom responded, looking at Kaito with a grin.

As the two calmed down, a small brown blur zoomed past them, stopping just short of the bed. The blur revealed itself to be Ayame, unshed tears in her eyes as she looked up to Venom, a look of uncertainty in her eyes. "Is Onii-chan... going to be okay?" Venom nodded as Reina and James finally caught up, both out of breath, the little girl was quite fast despite her age. Starring at him for a moment, Ayame noticed something writhing under his suit, Venom easily noticed and decided it was best to show them now.

Tapping the emblem, the nanotech retracted from his chest, revealing a large spider-shaped scar burned into his chest, in the center of it though was a pure dark mass, pulsing slightly. "What is that?" Reina asked, concerned for her son. "I don't full know myself, but I can say it is helping him heal." James sighed, relieved a bit that he was going to be alright, yet the scar made him curious. "How did he get that scar though?"

Venom said he wasn't with him when it happened, but his best guess was when Mina and Toru were trying to keep him alive, the insignia must have been directly against his skin, with the electricity causing it to overheat, thus burning him. After he explained, Ayame tapped Venom to get his attention, asking for him to pick her up. Doing as she asked, the little girl leaned in, softly tapping the dark mass on his chest, a small tendril the size of her finger stood up, the head facing her.

"Hi... are you going to save Onii-chan?" She asked, her voice barely above a whisper. The dark mass shifted slightly, the tendril nodded its head, earning a giggle from the little girl. "Thank you." She said, patting the dark mass before it sunk back in, the nanotech covering it once more.

After a while, the class left, Izuku saying they might stop by again. Reina and James told Ayame they were quickly going to the see Principal Nezu as he wanted to discuss something with them, Ayame said she would stay here, the adults leaving. Once they were gone, the other symbiotes revealed themselves, Anti lifted her onto the bed, letting her rest beside him.

"Can you tell me what happened? How did Onii-chan end up like this?" Ayame asked, cuddling against him, seeking comfort. They thought it over, thinking of what they should leave out considering her age, but before they could say a thing, the dark mass emerged once more, the tendril connecting to the back of her head, showing her a replay of what happened, but left out any extreme parts, like Kaito being stabbed.

Elsewhere

After checking on Kaito, the class waited outside for their parents to pick them up, to pass the time they decided to talk about their experience. "So, is everyone okay after all that?" Uraraka asked, the answer was the same from everyone, most remained concerned for Kaito. Some talked about their own fights, saying they were concerned at first, but managed to gain the confidence they needed with some effort.
