Ch 13: Peaceful Time

Narrator Pov

As they stared at Kaito with tears in their eyes, the boy chuckled a bit, waving a hand in front of them, snapping them out of their trance. "You look like you've seen a ghost." He teased, but was silenced as Ayame tackled him in a hug, nearly knocking him off the bed had Venom not supported him. "I just woke up and my little sister is already trying to knock me back down." He teased, gently stroking her hair, the others simply laughed at the display as Reina and James joined, happy to see him awake and well.

"Hey, save the group hugs for when I can sit up, will ya?" They chuckled as they backed off, Kaito smiling at them, asking how long he was out. "A few days, but your awake now and that's all that matters." Shoto replied, Kaito nodding a bit, noticing Peter was silent and staring. "You jealous of my looks Pete, or is it something else." He said, grinning slightly.

Peter snapped out of his stupor and approached him, pulling him into a hug before changing it to a headlock. "As if, and that's for the scare, bro." He said, releasing his younger brother, a smile on both their faces. MJ ruffled his hair, a soft smile on her face. "Hey MJ, been too long." She pulled him into a tight hug, careful not to injure him. "It sure has been a while, cub."

Kaito rolled his eyes, telling her to drop the nickname, to which she shook her head, saying it suited him. He felt Venom sink back into his body, saying he was still sleepy despite the sudden surge of energy. 'Sorry Venom, rest up bud.' He thought, feeling his partner relax, slowly drifting off once more. As they calmed down, Recovery Girl spoke up, saying she wanted to give Kaito a quick checkup to ensure he was fine.

"Whatever Pete brought had its risks, but you're just doing your job, so I won't stop you." She thanked him and got to work, checking whatever she deemed necessary. During the check up, Aizawa asked how he knew what happened earlier, Kaito saying Venom was awake, so he knew thanks to him. "And how are you feeling." Aizawa asked, Kaito shrugged a bit, saying he felt good.

"Honestly, I feel great, like I could run a marathon." He remarked, a small smile on his face. Recovery Girl hummed as she checked his vitals, saying they were perfect, not a single thing out of the ordinary. "Well, you seem to be in perfect health, I'll allow you to leave today, but no extreme activity until your body has fully healed, understood?" Kaito nodded, saying he was a man of his word.

As he got up, his stomach growled loudly, startling him a bit "How the hell am I still hungry despite that nutrition bomb I ate." Kaito muttered, a bit annoyed at his stomach. Peter laughed a bit, saying how his body must have processed the 'nutrition bomb' faster than he anticipated. "Keep forgetting how fast my metabolism is, sorry dad, your wallet is gonna be lighter."

James just laughed, saying it didn't matter as they already bought a lot of ingredients to make him a feat, Peter quickly added he helped pay, so there was more than expected. As he got changed, Reina and MJ left together to have a head start on cooking the feast, Kaito purposely took his time getting home to give them more time, ignoring his growing hunger. "Aren't you worried 'that' state will happen?" Izuku asked over the phone, sat in James's car along with Shoto and Bakugo, Kaito was in Peter's, as was Ayame.

The elder brother raised a brow, but listened since he knew Kaito would explain for him. "You mean my hunger frenzy, nah, I'm sure you noticed my eye is still different." Peter glanced at him for a moment as Izuku hummed, he saw Kaito's left eye was still the same as before, fully black with a red iris, his right being his natural brown. "Well during the fight, I had gone into it for a time but kept control, the chocolate I had on hand wasn't enough to pull me out, but was able to relieve the hunger I felt."

He explained further how maybe his body adapted to it in amidst the extreme conditions he was in, using the quirks he unlocked as evidence to back it up, which made sense to them. "So what you mean is you're in a semi-permeant hunger frenzy, but have full control over yourself?" Bakugo asked, Kaito chuckled, saying it was one way to put it. "Then phrase it like that, slimeball!" He yelled partly, Kaito just laughed a bit as he ended the call.
