Ch 11: Partial Awakening

Narrator Pov

Kaito could only stare at Riot, the grey symbiote grinned maliciously. His gaze then shifted to Mina and Toru, who were staring with pure terror and disbelief, unable to comprehend what was happening. Not wanting to go down without a fight, he mustered all the strength he had into a blade, took a swing at Riot. He easily evaded the slow swing, leaving his blade in Kaito's chest, the boy struggled to keep standing as blood spilled out, his body grew cold as he saw his friend's horrified expression, the last thing he heard as he blacked out was his symbiote brothers screams.

Elsewhere

Ayame was currently in art class, the teacher telling them to draw their family, or some loved one. She was done with her family drawing, one which had herself, Kaito and her parents together, their names written beneath them, she also including a black extension from Kaito, adding Venoms name to it. The one she was working on now was a secret one, for her and Kaito only, she was drawing the others symbiotes coming out from him, each of them smiling as he held her in a hug. Yet as she finished coloring his hair, tears dropped onto the paper, splashing the colors and spreading. "O-Onii-chan.." She cried, her voice barely audible as she knew deep down, something bad happened to her brother.

At home, Reina and James were enjoying their day off, discussing future plans they could enjoy with their kids. Reina was doing the dishes as James read the newspaper like always. As he took a sip from his mug, Reina was setting a plate on the drying rack. Both dropped their respective items suddenly, Reina nearly fell over, while James dropped the paper. Both looked to each other, tears flowing with worry written all over their faces. "Kaito..."

Peter sat in his office, having just sorted through the paperwork, most of it being progress reports on projects he worked on, or his personal work. He glanced at the picture frames on his desk, photos of his friends and family. One with himself, Aunt May and Uncle Ben, another with MJ and Harry. Another with Gwen and Miles. Even one with Kaito's adoptive family. The final one was of Kaito, him and Ayame, all wearing a wide grin. He picked it up, a faint smile gracing his lips, it had been some time since they last saw each other, nearly a year by now. "I'm lucky you're so considerate, little brother."

Something than hurt inside him, clutching at his chest as the frame dropped on his desk, the glass cracked. His eyes widened, his heart beating faster. "Kaito." His personal phone buzzed, showing Mary Jane was calling him, he answered without question, her voice full of concern. "Peter, somethings wrong with Kaito. I just have a feeling." He was silent for a moment, a cold sweat running down his face before agreeing with her, saying he was getting the plane ready. MJ stated she was coming as well, and he didn't argue as he hung up. 'Please be okay Kaito.'

The girls sat at the bar in their base, each holding a glass of their preferred beverage, Mira and Kuro having alcoholic drinks, whereas Tenka, Tora and Toga had soda. The two eldest were teasing the latter three about their kiss with Kaito, even if they didn't see it, the happy expressions that day were enough to tell what happened. 

"No need to be shy about it. After all, you made it clear why you fell for him." Mira chuckled, seeing their blushes grow deeper. Kuro giggled into her hand, slightly drunk from the sake. "And he is quite handsome, you three are lucky." She said, Mira agreeing before both took another sip, not aware of the blush on their faces.

This didn't escape the others notice, and they quickly surmised the two had a crush on Kaito as well. They were jealous for a moment, but remembered it was Kaito's choice, not theirs. It didn't mean they would let this chance at payback pass however, and their devious smirks said as much. "Careful now you two, from the way your faces are looking. It almost seems like you have a crush on him too." Toga giggled, the two women nearly spat out their drinks, their faces a crimson red.
