Nobody thought it would process so fast… it only lasted around 5 to 6 months before Bill was practically bedridden from it. The brick pattern had seemed to vanish completely, and he was almost circular.
And then, it happened. Bill woke up in practically the middle of the night in a truck-load of pain, a faint slit going up the center of his form.
Bill quickly smacked at Ford’s arm, since shaking almost never worked (some dimensions are prone to quakes, so he kinda got used to that). “Wakey wakey, brainiac!”
Ford grumbled, squinting at Bill, “What?”
“I'm about to bring life into this multiverse for the very first time.”
“Huh?”
“Labor, Sixer. L-A-B-O-R-E.”
“Labor doesn't have an ‘e’ at the end.”
“It doesn't? Huh."
Ford just stared at Bill before his head put the pieces together, fully waking him up. “Wait, what?!”
“Yeah. It hurts like a bitch, but that's okay.”
Bill seemed pretty chill with this, meanwhile Ford was panicking and unsure what to even do. He probably shouldn't have skipped out on this specific part of his medical PHD…
“Oookay, uh, do you need anything? Pain meds, towels-”
“I'm fine, Sixer, really!-”
Bill said, although maybe a little too soon, when the slit in his form spurted out a strange fluid. “A-Although, that does sound nice..”
Ford was on it in as soon as Bill started, grabbing anything that he even slightly considered would help.
Ford came back to find more of the strange fluid spilling out of Bill, who didn't even want to move.
“This hurts a lot more than I thought..” Bill managed out. “Like being hit by a bus and then stung by wasps before inevitably being crushed by an anvil... Weirdly enough, that's happened before.”
Ford felt bad for Bill, going next to him, “How many do you think you need?”
“At least like… 5 million.”
Ford looked at Bill.
“Fine. Four for starters.”
Ford nodded, taking out four pain relief pills before turning to Bill. “You need water with it?”
“Nah, I have enough saliva.” Bill said, taking them and forming his eye into a mouth, tossing them in and swallowing.
“I'm not sure if it's even good to have them in these situations, but… I don't really have anything else.” Ford admitted.
“Better th'n… nothing..” Bill said, slowly sinking into the pillows set behind him.
Ford carefully set towels under Bill, gently using a rag to clean the fluid off Bill's surface. Bill winced when Ford poked lightly at the slit. "What.. is this meant to be..?"
"I dunno, Six.. J'st don't touch it, 'kay..?"
A lot of swearing and pained sounds later, the slit started to open some. "Yeouch! That's not good..!"
The slit leaked fluid as it opened, a muscle-like object trying to escape, only opening the slit more and more. Bill yelped, squeezing his eye closed and holding onto anything in reach.
Suddenly, the muscle came out completely with a mix of black tendrils, nearly turning Bill inside out... Ford flinched at the odd sight.
The muscles and tendrils turned into itself, and after a moment, pulled something out. Something Ford could only assume was the uh... Hybrid child. What to call them? They'd figure that out some other time.
The muscle and tendrils pulled back into Bill's form, leaving the baby outside of it. Bill kinda looked like a crumpled juice box... And oddly enough, he was a shade of light grey. He'd lost his color, exhausted. He felt better after being run over by cars and trains. He needed a nap.
Ford softened at the now sleeping triangle, carefully putting the blanket over him before looking at the baby. Almost humanoid, two eyes with a third underneath the right being a main feature. Ford carefully set them down, going to his closet and grabbing an old shirt before going back, putting it on them. Ford looked back over at Bill before setting them down next to him, standing up again. He definitely needed something after seeing all that.
Ford left his room, going to the kitchen and looking through the fridge. He grabbed a Pitt Cola, not having much idea's as he opened it, looking off into nothing. Well... That just happened.
Bill eventually woke up, holding what would be considered his head. He was a bit dizzy, but conscious. He looked around before at the baby beside him, clearly overwhelmed. Bill knew what that was like, everything feeling new and whatnot. Bill pulled the blanket over both of them, holding them close and being as quiet as possible. Just to make everything a bit more bearable.
Ford soon came back, just sitting next to the two as he set his soda aside. "How are you feeling after... all that?" Ford asked.
"I feel very tired."
"Seems so. You did lose your color," Ford pointed out. "If that's magic, then how did you keep the color?"
"Because it's not magic, Sixer. It's an ability unique to my own species," Bill explained. Ford nodded, interested. He's trying not to get nerdy since now isn't the best time, so he kept his mouth shut.
