At the Shizen soccer team lounge, the soft hum of afternoon quiet settled into the corners of the room. Sunlight filtered through the high windows, casting warm slants of light across the wooden floors and shelves stacked with old sports magazines and textbooks. It was lunch break, and though the team had just come from a long morning of study, there was no trace of stress hanging in the air—just the quiet peace of downtime.

Haru sat cross-legged on the couch near the window, headphones in, lazily flipping through a book that clearly wasn't related to school. His brow was relaxed, eyes half-lidded, content in his own little world. Kouji was nearby, leaning against the armrest with his phone in hand, idly scrolling through music playlists like he was searching for the perfect soundtrack to match the afternoon.

Koshi had claimed the center table, his laptop open as he absentmindedly tapped away at a game between bites of his sandwich. Next to him, Minoru sprawled across two chairs, legs dangling, notebook open on his chest—but he wasn't writing, just doodling in the margins with a mechanical pencil.

Ken leaned against the back wall, tossing a ball up and down between his hands with quiet precision, while Yutaka stood by the water cooler, sipping slowly, gaze focused on the garden view outside. The stillness of nature beyond the glass seemed to mirror the room's calm energy.

The soft thud of the door opening barely drew attention—until a familiar voice broke the still rhythm of the lounge.

"Afternoon," Arion said, his tone light but worn.

Heads turned as he stepped in, jacket slung loosely over one shoulder, hair tousled by the wind. His usual spark was there, but dimmer, dulled by exertion. Without waiting for much of a response, he made a beeline for the couch and flopped down with a heavy exhale, landing beside Haru with a soft thump that stirred the room's quiet air.

Haru shifted slightly as Arion collapsed beside him, giving the tired captain a brief side glance. Arion didn't meet his gaze—he just sank deeper into the cushions like the couch might swallow him whole.

Kouji raised a brow as he stood from his corner and walked over, plopping down on Arion's other side with a light grin. "It's still half of the day," he said, nudging Arion with his elbow. "What do you even do that gets you this tired? You don't have to attend classes anymore, lucky you."

Arion exhaled through his nose, eyes still half-lidded. "Nothing," he murmured. "I'm just thinking."

Kouji frowned slightly, unconvinced. "Thinking doesn't usually make you look like you ran a marathon."

"Depends on what you're thinking about," Haru added quietly, not looking up from the notes he'd been reviewing.

Arion didn't answer right away. His gaze drifted up to the ceiling, unfocused.

"Resting is allowed, right?" he finally said, letting a small smile ghost his lips—one that didn't quite reach his eyes.

Ken glanced up from across the room, pausing his absent ball toss. "Sure it is. But if your 'thinking' keeps making you look like you've been hit by a train, we're going to start checking your pulse."

That earned a weak chuckle from Arion, but he still didn't elaborate. Whatever it was, he wasn't ready to talk about it—not yet. The others exchanged a few subtle looks, but none of them pressed. Arion had always been like that. He carried things quietly until he was ready to let them go.

Arion shifted slightly on the couch, letting the quiet hum of the room settle around him. The voices, the soft rustle of papers, the distant sound of birds outside—it all felt a little too still, like the world was holding its breath, waiting.
