Imagine: Being reunited with Kol after the veil falls.

You were about to graduate, you were going to enter college, you should be happy–ecstatic even, but with all that had happened this past year you couldn't bring yourself to feel anything. Nothing at all, no happiness, no pain, no anger, you were void of anything and everything. Lately you had to fake all your emotions, it didn't matter, Elena didn't care, Klaus didn't care, no one cared about you anymore.

You looked around the empty house, it was the only thing keeping you here, your family was gone thanks to Klaus and his constant need to control you. You needed to feel human again, to feel pain, and hope, anger and fear. You wanted to scream but you couldn't bring yourself to care about anything. You turned your emotions off and couldn't will yourself to turn them back on again.

You took a deep breath and took another drink. "Congrats, (y/n)." You whispered to yourself letting out a bitter laugh at the situation. There was a bang at the door. "Fuck off, there's no one home!" You shouted in the doors general direction.

There was a loud bang and the door hit the ground hard. "I find that hard to believe." You turned ready to stab whoever came through the door, but you found yourself unable to move, or to speak, or to do anything really.

"I see I can still leave you speechless darling." He said walking towards you. "Kol." You said, barely audible. "My god, you- you're- but you can't be." You said struggling between breaths. "But I am." He said smirking. He grabbed your hand and lifted you up on to your feet.

You touched his face making sure this was real and not something you imagined in a drunken haze. "I'm real darling." He said repeating the same line he'd told you when you'd first met. You let out a heavy breath and you wrapped your arms around his neck and kissed him fiercely. His arms wrapped around your waist.

"I thought I'd lost you." You said when you pulled away. "Never." He smiled at you, a genuine smile, something truly out of character. "You haven't changed a bit." You said.

"I can't say the same for you darling." He said holding you at arms length. "Klaus, he-"

"It doesn't matter, love. If it'd been me we both would've been dead by now." He said placing a hand on your cheek. A tear slid down your cheek and he pulled you close again. You kissed him greedily and he did the same, grabbing you and lifting you up into his arms.

"I'm never going to leave you again, darling."
