Imagine: You're best friends with Rebekah, and you dating with Kol, but she doesn't want that.

You had your ear pressed against the door. Not that you really had to. They were screaming, yelling and the entire city could probably hear them.

"She's my bloody best friend! Did it really have to be her?" Rebekah's voice was echoing through the halls and you peeked through the key hole, noticing how she was crossing her arms over her chest.
"You of all people should know that love doesn't work like that, Sis." Kol rolled his eyes and cocked his head.
"You know nothing about love! You've never been in love! Why would you be in love now?" She frowned her eyebrows and shook her head. A part of her words hurt, but maybe it was because you knew she was right. Kol had never been in love before. Why would he be in love with you? With a simple human girl?
"This is different, okay?" He pointed towards the door and you stepped back, afraid that they knew you were listening. "She makes me feel happy again." He sighed. "She gives me the feeling that I'm good enough." He started to sound bitter. "Something my own family could never do." He walked towards the door and opened it, noticing you, standing with your back against the wall next to it. "Come, let's go somewhere else, Darling." He grabbed your hand and pulled you along, while you turned your head to stare at Rebekah.
"I'm sorry..." You formed the words with your lips and walked along.
"Just leave with him, don't worry about me. I'll just stay here. All alone. I'll be fine." She wouldn't be fine and you knew it. You could only hope that in a couple of hours Kol and Rebekah would be talking again.
