Imagine: Being only able to conceive children with your soulmate Kol.

I walked down the long corridor of the hallways, refusing to meet anyone's eyes. As a child I was cursed. If I met a certain person's eyes, they would be my soulmate, and I could only have children with them. The thing is though is that I have no idea who it is. That decision is up to the spirits, so I keep my eyes diverted to the floor at all times.

I heard shouting, and quick footsteps, as if someone was running, so I immediately went to the wall. The year is 1764, and I live in the Mikaelson palace. I was born here, but I've never met any of the vampires. Us civilians aren't allowed to leave, we're simply bodies waiting to be drained, but there's so many of us, it's like our village.

"You can't run from me!" a voice boomed, bouncing off the stone walls. Suddenly, I felt myself being grabbed and thrown to the ground. I collided with the floor, and I cried out. This isn't normal. The men aren't allowed to harm the women. I watched as a man ran away, and slow footsteps came my way. I pushed myself up, and scooted to the wall.

A pair of feet stood in front of me, and a hand was offered to me. I daintily grabbed it and was hauled to my feet. "Are you alright, darling?" an english voice said kindly.

"Yes, yes I am alright." I said softly.

"I'm going to drain that bastard dry. That is one of our main rules. To not harm a woman." the man said. I froze, and my heart began pounding in my chest.

"Look at me." he demanded. I jumped slightly, and I felt jittery. That's another rule. We have to obey them. I looked up at him, and our eyes met. The first eyes I've ever met.

"What's your name?" he asked.

"Amity. I live in section 18." I said, as I brushed hair out of my face.

"That is no place for a girl of such beauty." he said in a lulling voice.

"I was born here, but my mother says it's better than where she is from. Some associate put her there." I answered.

"Well, darling, I'll be sure to have you moved into my personal quarters by tonight." he said as he looped his arm through mine.

"Which brother are you?" I asked, as we walked down the hallway.

"I'm Kol." he said, and I looked up at him in surprise.

"You have a reputation in my block, they say you are ruthless. A man with no boundaries." I said.

"They're not wrong, but darling, I'm only ruthless if they want me to be, or if they happen to say the wrong thing and cross a metaphorical line." Kol told me.

"What if I cross a line?" I whispered, half afraid.

"You, Amity... I... I enjoy your company. That is why you are going straight to my quarters." he said.

"No... I couldn't. I have to care for my mother. The adults in my block say she has a case of madness. She needs constant supervision." I said, opening up, which is something I have never done in my entire life.

"Very well. You go into your block, one last night. Pack your belongings, and find another simpleton to watch your mother. One last night in that forsaken sector." he said, then in an instant he was gone. What have I gotten myself into?

I quickly walked down the hallway, into my block, and found my designated room that I share with my mother. She was sitting by the window looking at the setting sun.

"The spirits are talking." she whispered.

"Mother it's your insanity. And tonight is my last night in this block." I said.

"No one ever gets moved." she protested.

"Well I did. I ran into Kol, and he is one of the originals, he wants me to live in his quarters." I said.

"Amity! You met his eyes! You're doomed! You're damned!" mother said, and quickly stood up.

"Mother, relax,. He's a vampire. Meaning he is technically already dead, therefore he can not be my soul mater." I said, shrugging her off.

"You're wrong, you ignorant child!" she snapped, as she slapped me. Hard.

"Mother, you need to go to bed." I said coldly. I sat her down, and ran off to my room. Mother is truly insane. I know I am cursed, but Kol is technically dead.

I packed my belongings quickly, it giving me something else to do. As soon as all of my belongings were packed, I laid in my bed, and for some reason, pain over took me. It felt like fire was burning through my veins, causing me to cry out.

I screamed and screamed, anything to drown the pain. My door opened quickly, and my mother had a horrified look on her face, as she rushed over. "Amity, hush. Amity!" she shouted.

"Mama, it hurts." I cried out.

"I know child." she said as she brushed my hair off of my clammy forehead.

"What's happening to me?" I asked, trying to bite back the screams, but failing.

"You are away from your soul mate. The spirits were trying to warn me." she said.

"Make it stop! Please make the pain stop!" I screamed as I writhed in my cot. It felt as if I was being burned alive.

"I can't. The only way it will stop is if he is here, and you're in his arms. Only then." she said calmly. How is she so calm?

"Kol! Please!" I screamed in agony.

"I'm here." The familiar voice said.

I turned my head, and there was my supposed soul mate. Kol rushed over, and placed his hand on my face, and just like that the pain went away, and in it's place euphoria washed over me. There he is. My soul mate, the only person I can ever have children with. My soulless solace.
