Chapter Ten

Carmen pov

My eyes snapped open and I snapped straight up as I began to pant wildly. I hadn't had a nightmare in years and that was intense as hell. Ajax shifted next to me and turned on the light.

"Carmen are you okay?" He asked genuinely

"I had a nightmare sorry" I felt bad, he was under so much stress trying to help me and I interrupted his sleep for a stupid reason. I tried to lay back down but he pulled me to him instead.

"Tell me about it, I want to share your demons and I'll share mine with you," He whispered and my heart skipped a beat.

"I had a dream about my parents...that godawful night," I said lowly

****FlashBack

Bang!

I woke up at the sound of a loud bang and shivered. I heard grunts,groans, and more crashing noises. I slid out of my new big girl bed I had just received for my 6th birthday and headed for the door.

I reached for the knob slowly not really knowing what would be on the other side. A thunderous growl shook the house and I froze, I was terrified of the loud noises but so curious as to what created it...I opened the door.

"Mommy?" I called out and a scream erupted from down the hall so I kept going, part of me knew I shouldn't have gotten out of that pretty pink bed. I turned down the hall and walked to the top of the steps were I could see blood splattered on the wall dripping down like black molasses.

I gulped "Daddy!" I called out a little louder as I walked down the stairs. When I got to the bottom I screamed as I was my Mother and father battling two giant dogs.

"You leave my mommy alone!" I yelled and their eyes snapped to me and I shook.

"Carmen run!" She yelled but I didn't listen, I had that problem, I never listened.

I picked up one of my daddy's chunky work boots and with all my might I threw it at the big dogs. He threw my father across the room and into the wall and snapped his humongous jaws at me as I shrieked.

The dog ran to my father and bit his side and tore a chunk out of him then charged at my unsuspecting mother.

"Mommy!" I shrieked at her as everything went slow motion, and he knocked her down and ripped her to shreds right in front of my eyes. Screams ripped from my body as the two huge dogs changed into two naked humans and left.

I ran to my daddy as he sputtered out blood from his mouth and shook him, causing blood to spray on me.

I blinked and stared down as crimson luquid slip down my dress, all over my hands and face.

I crawled to mommy and cried out as she continued to leak.

"R-R-UN" She choked and spattered more blood across my baby pink night gown.

Howls shocked the air and I bolted as fast as my fragile legs could take me.

I ran until I couldn't anymore then hid under a fallen tree and shook. I was there for days until Alpha Richard found me, covered in my parents blood and scarred, mentally messed up

****End Flashback

Ajax wiped away the stray tear that traveled down my face.

"That is the only memory I have of them, Their death" I shivered at the thought once more.

"Were they targeted?" He asked

"Who knows, we were rouges looking to fit in with fucking humans" I let out angrily "We were trying to live the right way, just the three of us" I whispered

"Why didn't they join a pack?" Ajax pressed for answers that I just didn't know

"We were very close to blue tides moon just on the outside of a human town I think we were in the process but who knows" I sighed and laid on his chest.

He stroked my head and gave his condolences with a kiss on my head as I fell back asleep, hoping I wouldn't be haunted by that night any longer.

Ajax pov

I had no Idea that Carmen had seen such horrors, I guess now I know why she is the way she is.

I want to help her through it and make her feel loved, I knew that when Ayan got here she would try to cause trouble.

Ayan was my former lover and she liked trouble, but I decided I was going to take Carmen on a date.
