10 times worse than before. chapter10

chapter 10.

The Se-fair was completely over. 

Tilfa was sent to her room where she prepared for more heart wrenching torment. 

Tilfa sat on her bed trying to send Mikekell a message.  She wasn't sure it would work. 

Tilfa's father opened her door.

"Are we ready my Princess?"  Her father asked. 

Tilfa stood up and went over to her father.

"I am ready.  Must we get on with it?"  She said going out the door.

Her father followed her out.  Tilfa wasn't speaking with him as they walked to the cells.  She was trying to think what she should do when faced with her true love.  Her short message wasn't enough for him to understand. 

Tilfah had no idea what was about to happen. 

Finally they got to the cells.  The King ordered three guards at each cell. 

When all the guards were in place Tilfa and King Morfah headed for Mikekell's cell. 

Tilfa slowed her pace and stood behind her father.  King Morfah grabbed the bars.

"Please come over to me Human." 

Mikekell stood and slowly took watery steps to the cell bars.  Mikekell didn't see Tilfa standing behind the King. 

The King had the guards go in the cell and hold him down.  The other prisoners stayed away watching. 

The seven prisoners knew that Mikekell and Tilfa were in love.  Tilfa didn't know this. 

"Now I want you to sit down and listen to me.  Tilfa and I are to speak with you on all that you know."  King Morfah told Mikekell. 

Mikekell looked behind King Morfah.  He saw Tilfa standing beautiful as ever but he knew he had to pretend she was just another mermaid.  It was hard for him to not look at her.  It felt like its been years. 

"Now that we're all in the open with no secrets.  What are you hiding?  If I am not happy with your answer I will get it out myself."  King Morfah explained. 

Mikekell shook his head no.  He didn't know what to come up with.  He just waited for something to come to him.  Then it did.  He knew that Neves could read his mind.  So he told him to help him some how.  Hopefully he would. 

Mikekell hoped.

"Now I will have the guards step away so you can breathe your own kinds air but if you don't give me answers-  well you remember the last time.  So please be willing to make this easy for both of us."  King Morfah told him. 

King Morfah had the guards move away from Mikekell to give him the air he needed to speak.  King Morfah pulled the breathing device out of his mouth. (with no hands of course.)  Mikekell began sucking in water.  The King didn't move the water away for him. 

"Father please.  Do give him air.  You're acting like a savage."  Tilfa told him. 

King Morfah pushed the water away.  Mikekell coughed repeatedly dropping to the ground.  His hands grabbed the soil feeling the muddy grains between his peeled fingers.  Mikekell began to tear up. 

"You know King, I never thought your kind was evil.  I began to wonder about you though. 

I don't know what to give you.  I speak the truth of what I can say.   We all have our secrets.  Including you.  What kind of Towers would we be if we all knew the complete truth of us all?"  Mikekell said slowly standing up for the first time in a while.

"You shouldn't make my father angry.  We are trying to keep you safe.  He just wants to know why you lied about certain things.  I told him what you said.  Not having anyone but I didn't know you told him you had a family.  He wants to know why this is.  I don't have the answers for him.  You do."  Tilfa said.

Mikekell looked at Tilfa.  He didn't know what to say to the King.

"Your Highness if I may I have answers that you seek.  I was told by him.  He told me things of your daughter."  Neves announced. 

Mikekell looked back at Neves.  He wasn't sure if he was going to tattle or make up something. 

Tilfa was being looked upon by her father.

"Why do you look at me?  I do not have all the answers.  He does."  Tilfa said. 

Her father walked in the cell pushing Neves into the wall and Mikekell into the ground.  Tilfa looked away. 

"Tell me what you know or I will make sure you don't see even the darkness that you see now."  Said King Morfah.

Neves began speaking.

"This man as said he had news for the Princess.  News about one of the dieing ones from before.  You see I knew one of those.  I didn't give names but I know more because he wrote it on the sand over and over.  He knows now that his answers are not here.  He asked by a name and we told him the body went to the deeper sea's. 

The Princess was the one he wanted to speak with because she is less of a threat than you but I think it is all over in him.  He only seeked answers for some woman.  For a woman.

That is all I found out.  He cant talk so it takes time to write it all down in the sand." Neves explained. 

The King looked back at Tilfa and Mikekell.  Mikekell struggled to get up.

"Is this enough for you father?"  Tilfa asked.

King Morfah dropped down Neves and let Mikekell go.  He went back to Tilfa.

"You seem so hurt by all of this.  Do you know this Human more than I?"  He asked her. 

Tilfa turned away.  Mikekell came to the cell bars.  The King turned around and slammed the doors. 

"You get freedom to move and this is what you do?"  King Morfah told Mikekell.

"I don't want you to be upset with her.  She has done nothing wrong.  She is the only one that as made me feel welcome here.  I would only be willing to speak with her.  That is if you keep an innocent man here.  I won't speak to no one but her and these locked up mermaids.  I only trust them.  Please let me leave now.  This one tells the truth.  I did not wish for him to open himself to you but he did.  I still am willing to tell him a bit more of anything I can think of that as nothing to do with you or your daughter."  Mikekell said racing to get all the words out before King Morfah blocks him from speaking.

"You hide something.  I know this.  I will not let you go.  I do not make deals with Humans.  You might think my daughter is weak but i'm not.  She won't be for long. Her soon to be Prince that she chose today will make sure she is well taken care of.  As for you seven you will be given extra advantages.  Pick one each and make it good because it is all your getting."  King Morfah announced. 

Tilfa grew hot with anger at her father.  She knew he was going to sense it.  She at the moment didn't care. 

"So your'e going to keep someone who didn't do anything wrong to you in a cell forever?  How many people - I mean mermaids in here are innocent?  I proved I have done nothing and you don't care.  You say my people are the bad ones?  How dare you."  Mikekell told him.

"I had enough of this meeting father.  I am leaving.  There is no point to this.  We asked for answers and we got them.  Nothing as changed.  So may we be on our way?" 

"I will be back for the ending of this meeting."  King Morfah said.

Tilfa went off dashing out the cell area.  Her father ordered the guards to follow her.  Mikekell waited for the King to lock up his natural air again.  King Morfah went over to Mikekell.

"You feel something for my daughter?  This is why you're here.  I will release you when she gives me her first seed with her new and only Prince.  I speak the truth."  King Morfah said.

Mikekell didn't say a word.  The King brought back the water on Mikekell then gave him his breathing device but not until he had enough water in his mouth to have forced down.  

The King Morfah went out of the cells.
