Viktors POV
Singed's lab was as different then he remembered, the room was weighted with regret and failure and singed himself was no longer the towering man Viktor remembered. "Fascinaiting, I would very much like to see this device, this hexcore"
Viktor hadn't heard someone with his own accent in so long, and it was all but comforting, "that may be difficult to arrange." He replied before his lungs squeezed and he began to wheeze "I've tried every combination of runes but... it's always the same, the subject, whither and rot."
"Preheps the error resides not with your calculations but with your subjects," Singed reached for a vile of shimmer that had been laying on his desk "Nature has made us intolerant to change, but fortunately we have the capacity to change our nature."
"And this is shimmer?" Viktor asked
"A Variant" Singed replied "it should provide everything one needs to survive a violent transition."
"Will it work on plants?"
"You aren't here about the plants are you? I know the look of a doomed man" Singed approached him, the vile in hand "I must warn you, if you take this path they will despise you. Love and legacy are the sacrifices we make for progress, That's why I parted ways with Heimerdinger"
The purple liquid was enticing, Viktor was obviously still wary, but something deeper in him had already thrown caution to the wind "Jayce will understand."
"Perhaps, but it's not just Jayce you need to worry about."
That was the first time in the entire conversation that Viktor had even thought about Y/N. Would she be ok with this? And then he remembered the way she stood for the hexcore despite her obvious fear. He saw the fight in her eyes. She would be ok. "She will be more than understanding," Viktor took and pocketed the vial and left.

Y/N hadn't left the lab. She had never felt weaker then in this moment. The pain in her arm was overwhelming but having to betray her father hurt worse. Her tears had long since dried but she hadn't the energy to get up and move from her spot. It was midday when she had sat down and now the sun was setting. A dusty orange color filtered in through the window she was sitting under accompanied by angry jeers and screams produced by Jayce's blockade. It wasn't hard to tell that time had passed; she was just unsure of the length.
When the lab doors burst open she should've been startled, should've reacted just as she always did but she couldn't. It was Viktor. He hadn't noticed her but she had noticed the sudden determination in his eyes and the faint purple glow coming from his pocket. Anger radiated off of him after his conversation with Jayce and Mel. He needed to be able to fight back. He couldn't be helpless anymore.
"Vik" his name came out quiet and weak. Y/N was surprised he even heard it, but Viktor had long since tuned his ears to recognize her voice specifically.
He turned quickly away from the hexcore, she was somewhat sprawled underneath the window directly across from the doors, her glove had been removed and her arm was on full display. It was a ghastly sight. It looked charred, deep purple veins crawled up her arm disappearing beneath the pushed up sleeves of her white dress shirt and the veins reappeared on her neck peaking out of her collar. He had yet to see it however it wasn't the most disturbing thing about her. What scared him most was her lack of strength, lack of will, lack of hope. She had always had those in abundance, sure she was guarded at times but there was always this shine to her eyes that was a symbol of her pillars. Now it looked like someone had destroyed her and for the first time Viktor was going to be the one picking her up.
Y/N tried standing, she shifted out her weight on her right hand out of habit and collapsed with a pained scream. Viktor limped over to her, throwing his cane aside and sitting in front of her. Y/N met his eyes and she wanted to cry. There was no life left, they were dull and lost. Oh what a sight they must've been. Broken, torn apart, and disfigured. But the hope they lacked rested in Viktor's pocket. He pulled it out the vial of shimmer and both of their bodies seemed to zing just at the idea of being near it.
"It's going to be ok, I'm going to heal us both." he reached for her cradling her face "It's you and me always. I did this to you and I am going to fix it."
She leaned into him, letting him take control of this. She was in so much pain that the purple drug seemed like a life line. She simply nodded ready to do anything to save them both.
They helped each other stand and walked to the hexcore. Every pulse seemed to send a spike through Y/N's arm; they had to act fast. Viktor prepped himself carving ruins into his brace and skin before moving to Y/N. He hesitated, her arm was already sensitive; this would be far more painful for her then it was for him.
She seemed to find some resolve for them both and removed her waist coat and dress shirt. Viktor couldn't even admire her as the veins began to pulse creeping further up her neck. "Just do it, I will be fine."
So he began carefully carving as she screamed in pain. He convinced himself her momentary pain would be worth her restoration. He placed the final one on her chest and it was the only one that drew red blood. The others oozed some kind of purple goo. She sat her back to the hex core facing him and he saw the spark.
The small recognition of her endless determination, he swiped his thumb over the final wound and then continued. He split the contents of the vial in two not evenly as he assumed Y/N would need less than he did but hopefully enough to still heal the damage.
He moved swiftly grabbing his injector and inserting her vial before injecting it into her chest where he had placed the final rune. She screeched and fell back onto the table the pain was unimaginable. It was like her blood was lit on fire.
Hearing her awful wails and seeing her veins being to glow purple forced Viktor to move quickly. He placed the second vial and then injected himself. He understood why she was writhing in front of him now, he let out a similar wail of pain before forcing himself to move to the next step. He sliced both of their hands open before they held them out to the hexcore. Pain still coursing through both of their bodies.
The runes they had carved began to glow and more pain spread. Their screams filled the room as the hexcore grabbed hold of them changing their body chemistry. It was excruciating and blinding and then it was over.
Their breathing was unstable but the pain had subsided. There was a violet glow that surrounded them both emanating from their now healed body parts. Y/N sat up slowly using both her arms to do so she let out a light laugh examining her hand. It was still that awful black but the veins that were once a disgusting blackberry color were now ultraviolet.
She was so entranced by her own limb she missed Viktor standing. He stood and limped in between her legs grabbing her hand and drawing her attention. She was confused at first and then it hit her "You're standing, you walked here without..." A surprised and joyful sound came from her mouth, a smile creeping onto her face "Vik this is unbelievable, you did it" She was breathless reaching for his face that seemed to have gained some of its color back.
"We" Viktor corrected "we did it, now it's time to test it" He grabbed his cane out of reassurance backing out of her space. She pulled him back, and leaned in. She kissed him for the first time in what felt like forever. He melted into it, his hand finding her waist. Her skin was warm again and that in itself was enough for him. They were lost in a moment. Bathed in ultra-violet light. Nothing could touch them here. Even the hexcore that sent pulses through their skin was forgotten about.
For a moment there was forever.
