Kay's POV
1 week later

After hearing seven 5 Seconds of Summer songs in a row, I doubted they knew how to write a bad song. However, not everyone at this party had the same mentality. The only thing keeping some irritated guest from snapping were the banners reminding everyone it was Callie's 20th birthday and everyone would rather listening to every 5SOS song in a row than hearing Callie's "my day, my music" rant.

Even though many of these guests hadn't seen Callie since high school, they knew what would happen if they spoke up.

Speaking of, I haven't even spoken to most of these people since high school either. Callie, Zara, Sienna, Chrys, and I managed to stay close after graduation. We all ended up at NYU, so we stayed close to home. But we lost contact with countless friends after they moved away.

But since so many people were home for winter break, a lot of old faces showed up to Callie's party.

Trying to decide whether to start up another awkward reunion or avoid certain people at all costs was what I was currently battling with. When I saw one particular face I chose the ladder.

It would have been so much easier if I hadn't lost my friends somewhere, but I did and now I was standing alone and I could think about was the three blue dots on my wrist.

I groaned in frustration. I might be the most impatient person on planet Earth. The fact that I could end up waiting three years for this haunted me. Especially since I was reminded every time I looked down.

I was so lost in my thoughts, I didn't even notice a boy approach me.

"Hi, I'm Leo." The vaguely familiar boy introduced himself.

"Kay." I offered a curt smile.

"You're one of Callie's close friends right? Can you tell me why she decided to mix a ton of drunk people under 21 and swimming?" The boy questioned.

I looked out to the pool filled with drunk college students and even a few high schoolers.

"I find that it's easier to just not question Callie. There really is no explanation for what goes through that girls mind." I answered honestly, chuckling at how unbelievably true it was.

We continued talking and I realized that he was familiar because we went to school together. He was in a few of my classes each year, but we never really became friends.

"Hey, Kay, who's this?" Chrys approached us with Sienna following closely behind.

"Hey! I remember you! Wasn't your name Theo or something?" A slightly tipsy Sienna questioned.

"It's Leo, actually, but you were close!" Leo smiled widely.

The four of us continued talking but a pain in my wrist had me a little distracted.

I gasped at the sharp pain, gripping my wrist immediately. Chrys went right into best friend mode, checking for what could be wrong. Soon she realized what was going on, "Kay? Oh my god."

"This hurts like a bitch." I mumbled, holding my wrist into my chest and biting down on my tongue so prevent me from shrieking in pain. They definitely downplayed how much it would hurt.

"Chrys can we go somewhere else?" I mumbled when I realized people were becoming aware of my situation.

"Callie boldly left her bedroom door unlocked, let's go." Chrys grabbed my good arm and the three of us made our way upstairs.
