Chapter Ten – The Kiss
Zach pulled out his iPhone from his pocket and went to the truth or dare application. Then, he quickly typed in the names of his friends and gave it a quick shake. When it stopped, Maria, his girlfriend leaned over him to see who the dare was for. It read: Devon Shade.
There was a moment of silence before Zach started to laugh.
As far as truth or dare went, it was a tradition that Devon Shade had always played with his friends. You can say he never lost at it...until now possibly.
“What’s so funny?” demanded Devon to his friend who was still laughing.
The iPhone was passed around the group of friends who all started to laugh, except for Tessa.
“Speaking of the devil…” she mumbled as she passed the iPhone to Devon, who was impatiently waiting to see what was so funny about the dare.
When he glanced down and read it, his couldn’t believe his unfortunate fate;
‘Find a non-player and give him/her a kiss. You have one minute to find someone and five minutes to complete this task.’
“Shit! The only non-player here is…”
“Nicolette.” said Tessa in devastation.
“I’ll bet that he can’t complete this dare!” teased Zach, “there’s a first time for everything!”
Devon shot him a glare. “What kind of friend are you?”
“A friend who has a reality check for you.”
“Nah, actually I think he will complete this.” retorted Blake.
“Let’s bet on it then.” said Zach.
“Alright then, I get a hundred bucks if he gets this and if he doesn’t, I’ll give you a hundred bucks.”
“Deal,” agreed Zach, “hey, Devon do me a favor and lose this dare.”
Devon only shot his friend another glare. “You will be disappointed—”
“—but you don’t have to do this!” blurted out Tessa. “I mean, it’s just a stupid game. You can always find someone else!” she argued. “Common people, give him some slack; he’s been through enough already.”
“Well, it’s his choice if he wants to break his winning streak.” shrugged Zach.
Devon didn’t like the idea of kissing Nicolette, nor did he like the thought of Zach gloating in his face about how he broke his winning streak.
“Fine, I’ll do it.” he said through clenched teeth. Besides how hard could it be?

Nicolette sat cross legged on her bed with a phone in her hand, waiting for Lillian to pick up. Enough was enough and she was just about ticked off at Devon. She had spent some of her time relaxing, while the rest was spent on cleaning the mess that was left in the room and packing for tomorrow’s classes. She hadn’t thought about calling Lillian until looking at her class schedule. Her hope almost slipped when nobody answered on the other line, but at the last second possible, there was a female voice on the line.
“Hello?”
“Lillian?”
“Oh, hey Nicolette, what’s up…? Wait, let me guess, Devon’s in the dorm now and he’s caused trouble again.” Inferred Lillian with a sigh.
Nicolette laughed, “Yeah, you’re a hundred percent right.”
“Okay, I’m coming to your dorm now before he does anything else and I’ll see to your diary too. I’ll be there in a few minutes.” she said before hanging up.
