Chapter Three - Meeting the Jerk
Zach ran a hand through his chocolate brown hair, pacing back and fourth in his dorm. He was so going to be dead when his best friend hears about how his girlfriend’s going to be taking up his spot in the dorm… But then again, maybe he wasn’t going to be dead when he tells Devon that the dorm he’s going to switch to has some new chick there.
So far, Zach’s girlfriend, Sabrina was happy about this, so maybe Devon will be too…? Only problem now was that: how in the world was he going to break it to his best friend about this? He doesn’t exactly take bad news too well. As Zach was deciding how he was going to tell Devon about this, he heard the door slam open. He jumped, not daring to look toward the door. Could his friend know already?
To his relief however, he only heard a casual voice coming from a calm person.
“Hey Zach, what’s up?” asked Devon as he waited for the butler to bring his suitcases in.
“Hey Devon...” he replied back slowly, trying to decide how he was going to break the news to him.
His friend studied Zach’s face before crossing his arms. “What’s up?” he repeated.
Zach sighed and shrugged. “Nothing too much, but my girlfriend wants to come here, which is great… However, this dorm is only suited for two people…” he said slowly, looking directly at him.
Devon smirked slightly, but Zach just shook his head. “No! Not like that, I’m saying that you have to leave this dorm and go to coed room 320, the one that she was supposed to go to!” he blurted out.
Devon’s smirk changed into a small frown. “Alright, so you’re telling me you value your girlfriend more than me? Excuse me, but what happened to bros before hoes? Does our four year friendship mean nothing to you? he demanded in dismay.
Zack laughed nervously as he scratched his head. “Um, last time I checked you kicked me out of our dorm and locked me out for a whole month…for obvious reasons. And besides, I doubt that whole ‘bros before hoes’ thing really counted; after all, you did steal my girlfriends in the past before.” he pointed out.
His friend grumbled something less than intelligent before sighing, “Alright, fine, point proven. So is there anyone I should know about; whom I am to share the dorm with?”
Zach nodded. “Yeah, some new chick.”
“Is she hot?”
“Well, from what Sabrina told me…” He paused for a moment, trying to think of another word for butt ugly in some decent way, but nothing came up. “She told me that this new girl is totally your type of chick.” lied Zach, knowing that Devon would not agree with this, unless the new girl was at least decent looking.
“Well, normally I don’t do this without more consideration, but today you’re lucky. I need a new girlfriend anyways.” he replied.
“Wait, you broke up with your current girlfriend?” demanded Zach, wide eyed.
Devon gave a grin. “Yeah, she was getting boring. Anyways, you better hope that this girl is my type, because if she isn’t…” He trailed off before giving a pat on his friend’s back, knowing that Zach knew perfectly well what he was talking about. Without another word, Devon turned and left with his butler.
Zach just gulped some air as he watched his friend leave. Devon had always gotten his way, so once he finds out that he’s been duped, oh boy. But luckily, his friend would probably just be pissed at him; after all, he wasn’t as cruel to his friends as he can be to people he hates.
