Chapter Sixteen – Unexpected Savior
“Why are you here, Tiffany?” demanded Devon, not quite looking at her.
“Why the hostility?” she asked.
He didn’t answer.
“Alright, I’m here because I feel guilty about what happened two years ago.” she said softly.
Devon sneered, “Oh and you came back to tell me about it now? I'm sorry, but it’s too late; the pain has already settled in.”
Tiffany sighed. “I'm not asking for forgiveness because I can’t change the past. I am already in love with someone else, but there was always this nagging feeling in me…that guilt. I know that you’re not quite over me yet, so—” Suddenly, she was embraced by a tight hug.
“Damn it, Tiffany!” growled Devon. “I hate you for leaving me, especially when I needed you the most!” he whispered as he placed his head on her shoulder. “Sometimes I feel miserable without you here.”
“How about some closure, then?” she suggested, while pulling away to see his tear streaked face. “A kiss to get over the past, so we can both move on?”
Devon looked at her, before nodding. “Alright.” he whispered, although he feared that it will not satisfy him.
Tiffany leaned in to him slowly, before pressing her lips onto his.
After about a minute, they broke apart and Devon almost smiled, “Thanks Tiffany, I feel like I can get on with my life a bit more.”
She smiled as well, “Then go chase after your current girlfriend if you still want her.”
“Chase after my current girlfriend?” he repeated, “she’s not my—”
“Oh, I’m sure she will be. The look you give her…” she trailed off with a sigh. “Anyways, I’m sure she fled after I interrupted you two….go after her. I can tell, she’s one worth hanging onto.”

As Nicolette took a shortcut to her building, two people suddenly grabbed her arms and held them tightly together, while a familiar blonde haired girl stepped out in front of her, holding a lighter in her hand.
“If you haven’t heard by yet, Devon’s my boyfriend, otherwise known as, not yours to be with. I’ve seen you one too many times with him and doing what? I don’t want to know.” said Tessa angrily.
Nicolette rolled her eyes, “Oh please take him. I don’t like him at all!”
Tessa’s eyes flared, “He's mine and if you don’t like him, then why did you kiss him?”
“He’s a player; he kisses everyone. Isn’t it obvious? He forced it.”
“Yeah, I’m sure he forced you to kiss him three times, but whatever, you’ll learn your lesson eventually. So I’m giving you a second warning—”
“What do you mean you’re giving me a second chance?” demanded Nicolette suspiciously.
“Isn’t it obvious? The first warning I gave you was two weeks ago…” said Tessa slowly, stepping towards her, “you failed it, so I thought that the whole academy and your ex-boyfriend would be interested in your affair.”
Nicolette’s jaw dropped. So it wasn’t Devon’s fault?! None of her miseries were? “Are you kidding me? You’re the one who printed those pictures and the one who set me up for humiliation in front of the whole school?”
Tessa laughed sharply. “Who else, darling?”
Nicolette’s insides turned cold for a moment. That meant she had her diary! She thought as she thrashed angrily, trying to break away from the tight hold, but it didn’t work. “You no good b—”
