[INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY – AFTERNOON]

Ronnie and Jake are standing near their lockers, the usual chaotic school buzz around them. Both are quiet, a little off, unsure how to act now that they’ve crossed that “almost-kiss” line. Ronnie’s watching a conversation unfold between two girls, but she’s barely focused.

"Hey." Jake said to her as he approached

(half-smiling)
"Hey."

They’re both a little nervous, avoiding eye contact. Ronnie spins the lock on her locker aimlessly.

"So... uh, you’ve been avoiding me." He told her

"I haven’t. We’ve been at school. I’m here, aren’t I?" She said as she tried to avoid eye contact

"Yeah, but I mean, avoiding talking. It’s like the last few days, I’m getting nothing but radio silence."he told her

"I’m just... I’m trying to figure out what happened, okay? That night. At the hospital, I mean." She said

(stumbling)
"What do you mean? I thought... I thought we were cool. I thought—" he didn't get to finish

"We are cool. I just... don’t want to mess it up. I think I might have feelings for you, Jake."she confessed

Jake freezes, the words hang in the air between them. He looks around, nervous.

"You think?" Is all he said

Ronnie closes her locker slowly. She looks up at him, her voice quieter now.

"I’m scared. You know? What if it’s... just a phase? Or what if you don’t feel the same way?"she told him

"I’m not scared. Well, I mean, I am, but not about that. I’ve been feeling it too, Ronnie. I’m just trying to figure out if we can... do something with it." He said to her

The hallway noise seems to fade for a moment as they stand there, eyes locked. There’s a shift — a quiet understanding that they’ve both been holding something back.

(softly)
"So what are we supposed to do now?" She asked him

Jake steps closer, nervous but determined.

"We take it one step at a time." He told her

He’s close enough that she can feel the heat radiating from him. The world feels like it’s holding its breath.

"And if I... kissed you right now?" She asked

Jake’s breath hitches, and without thinking, he steps forward, closing the space between them.

"I think I’d kiss you back." He said

They kiss — hesitant at first, then deeper. It’s not rushed, but full of that raw, unsure energy. The kiss is more than just curiosity; it’s a quiet confession between the two of them. Neither of them knows what happens next, but for now, it’s just this.

They pull away slowly, both breathless. Ronnie takes a half-step back, trying to hide the grin creeping onto her face.

"Well... that wasn’t awful." She said

(smirking)
"Yeah, for that being the first kiss, I’d say it was a solid B+."he said to her

Ronnie rolls her eyes, but there’s a softness in her gaze.

"Next time, maybe we’ll get an A." She said

They stand there, smiling awkwardly but happily. Then the bell rings, snapping them back into reality.
