The sun dipped low under the city as we flew over New York, the last beams of sunlight gleaming off the tall skyscrapers. The last few hours had been a blur, the anxiety of trying to escape and he confusion of it all. It had all been jumbled around my head, but for now I remained strong, for Avery.

"So, what happened to Sam?" Chip asked, breaking the silence. A sudden feeling of dread filled me as I remembered my breakdown after they killed her.

"They... She's..." I struggled for words, trying to remain contained. "They killed her."

A heavy silence filled the helicopter as we flew over New York. Sadness settled down upon everyone like a blanket, suffocating anyone who let it remain.

"Sam..." Chip said sadly, tears glistening in his eyes.

"I-I promised her that we'd find Taylor." I murmured, resting my head back against the soft seat.

"And we will." Chip said with so much confidence the sadness seemed to dwindle. "After we lay low a bit, we'll head back to the lab and find out what happened to her."

Aaron gulped, "We gotta go back to the-the lab?!"

Chip nodded, "I'm afraid so, however you and Avery can stay behind. You've already been through enough."

Aaron frowned, "But I wanna help!"

"And you can," I said, looking at the redhead. "By staying out of harms way."

Avery shifted her position, her head resting on my lap, sound asleep. I couldn't even imagine what the poor kid has gone through and I tried not to.

"Where we headed?" Miles asked, adjusting the headset he wore.

"As far from the lab as we can get." Chip responded, glancing at Miles. The group fell into silence as we all relaxed. Aaron curled up on his seat and fell asleep, along with Miles who passed out in the front. Chip remained focused ahead, his eyes reflecting the sunset.

"How did she die?" He asked softly, and I could hear the hurt in his voice.

"We tried escaping, a bunch of us, so they took half of us and erased their memory I assume and the others were killed." I said, the memories coming back.

"So Sam was killed..." Chip said sadly. "God I wish she was with us, I'd let her swear all she wants."

I looked down sadly, "I didn't know her for a long time, I'd practically just met her, but she left a huge impact on my life..."

"But wait, how's your survive? Without getting killed or amnesia." Chip asked, a confused expression replacing his sad one.

"My power." I said, looking at my hands. "My body fought against the serum used to kill and healed myself."

"Dang..." Chip said, clearly impressed.

"So, where are we going?" I asked, frowning slightly.

"My place." Chip said. "I'm like you, a runaway. But you see, my parents died in a car crash and their house was abandoned. We can live there a bit."

"Your an orphan?" I asked, curious of his past.

"Yeah. I didn't want 'foster parents', so I ran away." He said simply.

"So what's your real name?" I pressed, suddenly interested.

Chip laughed, "Felix James Ross. But like I said, I prefer Chip better."

"Why Chip? I mean, I get your into technology and stuff..." I asked, excited for more.

"My mom used to call me that. It's a funny story really..." Felix said, grinning. "I once was eating potato chips, mind you, I was only like five, and I got so intense into eating that I forgot to chew one and swallowed it whole. The chip got lodged in my throat and... I had to go to the hospital to get it out."

I burst out laughing, "How did you manage to get a chip lodged in your throat?!"

Chip smirked, "I was a dumb kid, but anyways my mom started calling me 'Chip' after that. Of coarse when my friends asked, I said it was after a computer chip because the stories kind of embarrassing."

I giggled, "No kidding... But that's cool. I never got a nickname..."

"Yes you did..." Avery said, awake.

"No, no I didn't!" I cried, my cheeks heating up.

"I used to call him... 'Lovebutt'." Avery said loudly.

Chip burst into laughter, "L-L-Lovebutt?!"

My cheeks blushed as I laughed along, "Yup, Avery just loves telling everybody."

Avery beamed from her seat, and I reached over and began tickling her. She shrieked, wildly thrashing from my hands. I grinned as I tickled her sides, feeling like actual siblings again.

Giving up on the tickle fight, I leaned back into my seat, gazing out he window. Houses spread out below us, along with trees and buildings. The sun had set and the moon had begun to rise. I breathed a sigh of relief, glad to finally be safe.

"Chip, we have a problem." Miles said, suddenly awake. Nope, not safe.

"We're being followed." Miles said, flipping switches. Chip scowled, "Shit. We need to loose them."

I looked behind us to see a USA military helicopter following us. Fear flowed through me as I gripped onto Avery's hand, knowing that it would be a long night.
