Beep. Beep. Beep. I woke to the sound of a steady beat, matching the pounding of my heart. My eyes pried open and I looked around, everything extremely bright and the smell of sterile medicine hung in the air.

A tube was connected to my nose to a machine next to me, as well as other IV's and such. I was stripped down to a hospital gown once again, thick straps holding down each limb. Fear gnawed at my heart as my friends were no where to be found. A giant window next to me let some sunlight in, giving the place a warmer feeling, despite everything that has happened.

I took a deep breath, still coming to my senses. That's when the door opened and in walked Samantha. Her blue hair was unkempt and she was covered in bruises and cuts, but wore a guard uniform, all black with a badge on the chest. Her eyes were red as if she had been crying, while she marched over and stood across from me. She avoided my gaze, instead staring right above my head.

"Wh-why?" I managed to choke out, staring at her intently. She didn't budge.

"Because she's one of us." A scientist said, walking in. He had coffee brown hair that was slicked back with hair gel, along with thin gray glasses clinging to his nose. He wore a simple white coat and black pants, his hands folded behind his back.

"But you killed her!" I challenged, glaring at the new stranger.

"I beg to differ. The serum didn't kill her Subject 9700. It merely knocked her unconscious. You see, we desperately needed an army and what better way to get one then use the resources we already had! We took her to surgery and implanted a chip in her brain, we send it commands and she does them. Clear enough 9700?" He asked with a smirk.

"You sick bastard!" I swore, thrashing against the straps.

"Easy now, if you get hurt, you are unable to heal yourself." The scientist said.

I froze, "What?"

The scientist grinned, excited to have my attention, "We have ripped your ability right out of you 9700. Your now medley a lamb to be slaughter. You mean nothing to us; merely a failed experiment."

I trashed again, "Liar! Your a liar!"

"Or maybe we should put a chip inside your brain as well! Yes, that sounds better!" He cried, walking over to my helpless form.

"What'd you say champ?" He asked, looking at me with evil in his eyes. I spit at him, cursing him out.

"That's it! Off to the surgery ward with this one!" He yelled, storming out of the room. I breathed angrily, I have to find Miles.

"I'm... Sorry..." A voice said, and I whipped my head look at Sam. Her eyes were now locked with mine, a strained expression on her face, "I want... To k-kill help you..."

My heart throbbed for Sam, "It's okay Sam, we're going to get that chip out; I promise."

A smile grazed her lips before she returned to her natural stance, eyes just above me and face bare. I sighed, having so many emotions going through me hurt and I could only wish that we were all gone and safe.

The door opened once again and a different doctor came in, pushing a gunnery. I squirmed as he unstrapped me and pushed me on the gunnery, tying me down quickly.

"Don't do this..." Sam said, stiffly marching over to the gunnery.

"Shut it soldier!" The scientist barked and Sam turned back to her controlled mind.

He wheeled me into the hall and began towards the elevators. A few other scientists walked past, all glancing at me with disgust written on their faces.

"Stop... This..." Sam said, marching along.

"One more word out of you and I'll cut out your tongue!" He yelled at Sam

Sam nodded curtly and we continued down the hall. When we reached the elevator, he pressed level two and the doors closed. Right when they closed, Sam aimed her gun at the scientist and fired, blood spraying everywhere as he dropped dead.

"Sam?!" I cried as she furrowed her brow, pulling at the straps. She looked pained as she grabbed her head and shook, "Th-they're trying t-to override... T-the chip!"

"No! Sam! Stay strong!" I yelled. She whimpered getting to her feet, she removed a knife from her belt and began sawing at my straps. Once she finished I jumped up, hugging her tightly.

"Aw thank you, thank you so much!" I yelled, she gently nudged me away, "It's... So g-good to see you J-Jace!"

I smiled, "Now let's escape!"

"I-I can't Jace... I'll p-put you in d-danger!" Sam cried, tears spilling over her eyes, "I-I don't want t-to hurt you!"

"No, I'm not losing you again, we'll find a way to get that chip out. I promise." I said, getting up and wobbling. Sam straightened me.

"Let's go!" I cried as I hit the one button.

"Wha-what about Miles a-and Ch-chip?!" Sam asked. I stopped myself, "You're right! We gotta find them!"

The doors opened and we barged out, Sam's gun blazing. Scientists ducked and screamed as guards rushed to return fire.

"Stand down soldier 9713!" A guard yelled and Sam stopped firing, her face returning back to her blank composure.

"Sam..." I muttered before she turned and socked me in the face, everything going black once again.
