"Get up. Your going to miss the bus."
Once again Austin is banging at my door demanding that I leave the comfort of my bed and return to the coldness of the world.
"Scar. Come on girl. You just have to wake up. Thats all. You can do it girl. Come on."
He says in a soothing voice he uses for the horses. I laugh to myself and open the door. His sweet voice and face change instantly as he looks down onto my outfit. A Areopostale hoodie unzipped with a Captain America shirt beneath and some skinny jeans. Topped off with my converse. Bewildered he ask.
"What?!? You've been up and ready this whole time?"
Laughing I choke out.
"Yea. I just wanted to see how long you would stand there knocking. And do i look like a horse to you?"
He looks shocked. He dramatically gasp and put his hand over his mouth.
"You mean to say you arent a horse? You sure had me fooled. Man you even had an authentic mane."
He grabs my long black hair.
Walking by I slap him. Then I shout over my shoulder.
"For the record. My hair is real. And I am wayyy better looking than Ranger."
"Uh huh. Keep telling yourself that cupcake. You may not be a horse but you sure are a stubborn mule."
Cupcake? Really. I almost freeze in my spot but decide to keep going. Or my stomach decides. Im hungry. The sweet aroma of food fills my nose. Eggs. Ooooh. I want no need one of those good looking eggs. I gulp down the whole thing in about two bites. Then Austin and I run outside and wait two minutes for the bus.
The weather is starting to cool a bit.
Screeeech
The bus pulls up in front of us. Austin steps on and I follow. Immediately my eyes dart to the back of the bus. He int there today. None of them are.
Maybe they felt bad.
Austin waits for me to take a seat. I stay quiet for the majority of the bus ride. Every now and then talking to Allyson. Mostly I listened to my music. Rise Against blares in my ears.
Soon the bus takes an immediate stop. I hit my head on the seat.
Ouch. Ain't this day already off to a great start?
The voice ask sarcastically. A warm hand us placed on my back.
"You ok?"
His breathe tickles my ear. I nod and follow Austin off the bus. Instantly I freeze in my spot. Not a joint moves. Not a breath is taken. I just stand wide eyed.
Allyson turns and faces me then follows my gaze. Austin is standing right there beside me. His arm protectively over my shoulder. Allyson hunches over as if in an awkward position, which she probably is in one.
"Haha. There's my girl."
The biggest one laughs. I rub my arm where he left a bruise. My check is still slightly shaded cause of the slap.
"No Roddy. Shes my girl. Right?"
The one who normally rides our bus laughs and winks at me.
Austin tenses even more, as if that was possible. Now a crowd has grown. We still have time before school actually starts and the bus has already drove off.
"All of you shut up."
Austins voice booms in my ears. But I dont acknowledge it. Its as if I am watching a movie. I can see and hear everything. Its just not all actually happening to me. Allyson slides her arm around me. I notice Eden and Lucas stand off on the otherside. They start to walk towards me.
"Yea shut up."
Allyson shouts then whispers in my ear.
"Come on. Its ok."
"Why dont you come make me?"
The big one they call Roddy stands. And puffs out his already broad chest.
"Yea. Nobody asked you Bible boy. So Shutup. Why dont you tell them princess? Why dont you tell everybody what happened?"
"Tell them about how you came hitting on us. You practically threw yourself at us. Begged for a drink. Then we all had a merry time."
Thats not how it happened. I try to talk but can't. I am completely frozen. I can breathe. I can talk. Man how long have I been holding my breath?
Austin marches up there right in front of Roddy. He sticks his finger out at his chest.
"Why dont you tell the truth about how you all got her boozed up then banged her up. Evilly four guys one girl. You even left bruises," he turns pointing at me.
Roddy narrows his eyes. He balls his fist. Then swings. Austins head twist violently to the left. My trance is broken as I reach out. Lucas, Eden, and John all appear. Trying to stop the fight. Then one hits Lucas and John jumps him. Lucas gets in between Austin and Roddy. But one of the guts from that night push him down. They both gang on to Austin. I see him get a few hits in. But he takes a lot more. I dart over there. I jump onto the one on Austins back, the one who shoved Lucas, and I throw him hard. Or try to.
After some effort he throws me off.
He faces me I see red marks on his face. I lock my jaw and stare him down. I go for a punch for the gut. He knows that so I change quickly for the nose.
He doesn't see that.
He grabs his face. But another one comes up and pounces on me. I fall back hard onto the concrete.
Awwww hell that hurt. Crap. That hurts. Hell. How much does he weigh? Crap. Shoot.
A long line of curse words filter through my mind.
I try to push him off. Eden comes up and tries to get him off but the guy simple turns swiftly and punches Eden in the jaw.
He turns back and punches me. Multiple times. Soon I am able to raise my leg under him and shove him off of me. He falls back. As soon as I get up my head beats. An arm wraps around my neck. I am facing the fight. I see Austin get punched he is busted and bleeding. Allyson is trying to stop the fights. My brown hair covers my face. My vision swims. I see Eden try stopping the fight and help protect Austin. John is fighting one of the guys. I know the one choking me is the one front the bus.
My head pounds. I know imma go soon. I start to loose conscieness. I see Lucas stagger towards me. His eyes look like they are on fire. His fist are balled as soon as he sees me in a choke hold. I try to reach out to him. Tell him im ok. I want to soothe him. I want to make that evil look go away. I want to see him smile. But if I just saw this I would of thought he was incapable of smiling. My arm drops. My toes can't feel the ground as I am lifted up. I try harder to breathe. My face is on fire. My eyes begin to roll back. And finally it all stops.
I sink slowly into all oblivion. I welcome the darkness as I slam into a hard surface. I hear voices but I just let go. Finally I am gone.
